Hello Everyone

Have question. My husband came to the US on a K-1 and we were under the impression that when he got his social security number he could work. Well, today at his job he was told he needed a EAD. Please can some help us with the process outline to get on and let us know any other helpful information you may have.

Thanks

Thanks,

Having a social security card doesnt mean u are allowed to work here(K1 visa). He needs to get his employment authorization or if you adjust his status then he don't need the EAD once he gets his green card.

It is better to file for his adjustment of status to get his 2 yr. conditional green card so he is legally allowed to work here.

File AOS and EAD if you havent yet, sounds like you may not have. This is something very important you are going to want to do.

Also - suggest you study the new I-9 form.

get one, study the instructions.

Without a GC or EAD, you should see what you're missing from the I-9.

There is some 'wait time' also, if the employer USES this, to 'wait ' for proper ID and still the employee work - but - depends on the HR department's understanding of the regs.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
