I know. I'm, like, old. :P

Anyway, it's just gross. Terrible. I can't imagine denying this sort of access (they were together for 18 years!) as the sister of a long-time lesbian, a student nurse, or just a lay-reader.

There have been many instances of similar denial of access.I think it is disgraceful.

The article didn't say it but I thought it was based on the patient's wishes but they can't communicate, it's based on what the family wants. Plenty of black sheep in families that don't get access out of spite alone.

Then why would she get to see her as soon as her girlfriend's sister showed up? And I'm sure the living will would have covered all of the patient's wishes, in any case. They didn't even let her own kids in to see her.

Real love stories never have endings...

Exactly. It is disgraceful, no matter how we slice it. We might or not agree with how people live their lives, but #######; this is too much.

It's stories like this that make me thankful for the avenues that I have to try to be with the love of my life. You do not choose who you fall in love with and it's there by the grace of Whomever that the law recognises my relationship. It's wrong that it's recognised solely on the basis of our genders. I cannot even begin to contemplate how heart wrenching it would be to be told that I never could be with my partner, by virtue of our sexual preference and our countries of birth.

That would be the one instance of illegal immigration that I could completely understand.

I hope the kids sue the hospital for damages now; their mother's sexuality has nothing to do with the fact that she was their mother.

I'm still stunned that with all the power and influence the HOMOsexual Lobby has, they have not addressed these issues with Hospitals across the country.

I mean even me, someone who has no use for the whole Gay-Rights thing, would understand that there can be certain people in your life who are as close or closer... than blood family.

SO why has this issue not been resolved and why have these "Rights groups" not focused on this..... is it because these stories make a handy -tear Jerk story-

to get momentum for political causes?

Jeez Louise, I bet ten Gays stand in front of any hospital with signs they can get action, real quick.

---------------------------------

As many times as I have been to visit people in the hospital, some on deaths doorstep, I have rarely even been asked any questions and once or twice when I did, I said I was a Brother and was allowed in with no further questions.

Maybe they don't focus on these things because not everyone uses extreme cases to misrepresent the mechanism of an entire system...

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.
