Hello to All,

Meaw's interview whas scheduled for 10:45 today. We of course arrived early. She was called in at 10:40. She was finished 20 minutes later. It could not have been easier. First she was sworn in. The IO then asked only for her green card. I had loaded Meaw down with at least 100 pages of stuff. None of it was asked for. Not the passport, ID card, marriage license, tax transcripts, nothing! The IO asked her a few questions:

Have you ever been to the U.S. before receiving your visa?

Where do you work?

What does your husband do?

How many times have you been outside the U.S. since becoming a permanent resident?

Did your husband go with you?

He then asked her a few of the yes or no questions from the N-400, maybe 4 or 5. Asked her if she would bear arms and go to war if asked. Thought that one was pretty funny. He then asked her to read the sentence "Who can vote"? Then asked her to write "Citizens can vote".

She was asked only 4 questions from the possible 100, not six, not ten, only 4. All were softballs.

Who is the Vice President of the U.S. now?

What is the highest court in the U.S.?

What people were brought to the U.S. and sold as slaves?

Why did the Colonists fight the British?

The IO said congratulations and said that he might be stopping in to the restaurant that she works in some day. That was it. Couldn't have been easier. The interview was the easiest part of the whole journey, as it should be after what they put people through to get to this point in the process. Hope this helps someone. Best of Luck to everyone still waiting.

Peace, Evan and Meaw

Anything about her oath ceremony, or did they hand her certificate as she walked out the door?

Hi Nickd,

She will receive an Oath letter in the mail. The IO told her that her Oath ceremony would be in February. I'm not surprised. They are probably slammed with people trying become permanent residents and naturalize in the Bay Area. It's a real melting pot here.

Congrats and thank you for sharing the details of your wife's interview! If we don't move, I'll be having my interview there in SF next year. I haven't applied yet nor am eligible yet.

I think I'm starting to feel nervous lol not for the interview, but just thinking about driving on the Richmond bridge and finding parking space near Sansome or Washington St. By the way, how much did you pay for parking and where did you park? :P Parking in SF is pretty steep.

Hi Krakatoa,

I paid nothing for parking. If you go to North Beach you can usually find a spot on top of the hill near Kearny and Vallejo. It's 2 hour parking but the meter maids hate driving their little carts up the hill. I have never gotten a ticket and have parked up there every time. Its about a 10 minute walk to the interview from there, even closer to the ASC where fingerprints are taken. Best of Luck.

Peace, Evan and Meaw

Thanks for the tip! Will definitely check it out this weekend (and go eat again in Japantown lol). If my memory serves me right, I think I paid $28 for a day's parking and that was for a compact space on a street right across the USCIS building.

Congratulations again and best wishes to you and your family.

Can only wonder what brain decides the location of field offices, with had biometrics in Milwaukee, near downtown loaded with no parking signs. Did pass by the field office in Chicago, another no parking area with these crooks that charge 17 bucks an hour to park. Wife has a friend that lives less than an hour from St. Louis but in Illinois so has to go to the Chicago office. Very expensive trip for her, has to stay overnight in one of those way overpriced Chicago downtown hotels. In a way, we are fortunate for our interviews in being assigned to the St. Paul office, not even in St. Paul, but in Bloomington, right off the interstate with a huge parking lot. But for some reason, they have consistently sent us to downtown Milwaukee for biometrics. We didn't even ask why, just did it to get it over with.

Had to deal with the Colombia, Venezuelan, and Japanese consulates, all located in downtown Chicago, and even very small rented offices. Wondered why they couldn't move these out to O'Hare, even would get free guards for security. For us we can actually drive quicker to O'Hare than between that 30 miles between O'Hare and downtown Chicago where the average speed is about 1 mph.

Well, the OP had a troublefree interview, hope the oath ceremony is the same way, fortunately our senator got us Wisconsinites out of that St. Paul oath ceremony where they like to get around 2,000 applicants before they have one, and right smack in downtown Minneapolis that is also one big fat no parking zone. Oh for the offices that have the same day oath ceremony. For us, a very long trip and two days pay, most of our fellow Wisconsinites stayed in a motel. My wife had to work until 2:00 AM, got dressed and we got in the car and I drove while she slept, half hour later was back on the road again, just mostly to watch a video of GWB and lip sync the oath she already read aloud and signed at her interview.

Really no consideration for the applicants. We did get mercy from Milwaukee, daughter's biometrics was scheduled three days later than my wife's, did bring her along, and they did take her prints, that was nice saving us yet another 450 mile trip. I drop them off, but wish they would let my wife and daughter carry their cell phones so I can them where I am. When you really need those damned things, can't use them.

Congrats to both of you!

Evan,

I had spoke to you on the phone a few months ago regarding my own "visa journey". I am currently waiting for the NOA2 and have everything waiting and ready to go. Thanks for your feedback then and I wish you and Meaw the best of luck!

~ Mike
