IRS to auction land on Indian reservation

3.5 million in unpayed taxes, if auctioning off the land isnt the solution what do people suggest? There is no easy answer and not everybody is going to be happy but dam 3.5 million. I say that we dont charge them any taxes and let them have the land free of taxes but in the process quit subsidizing them, I think thats a reasonable solution but not very likely to happen.

March them back up to the Bering Strait and charge 'em 10 bucks a head to go back across.

To suggest this is to acknowledge correctly that so-called "native Americans" are not native at all but immigrants from Asia that gt here before other immigrants from Europe. So we should at least acknowledge that the Europeans did not steal land from the "natives" but won th eland in battles with other immigrant groups of people.

Who helped the colonies fight against the British? And, who influenced the colonies to work together as a Confederation at the first congress? Guess what. It was the Iroquios League. Heck, they're organization was looked upon Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson as the major factor that helped shaped the Articles of Confederation, precursor to the Constitution.

Technically, the Northern Indian Tribes were normadic by culture. However, when the European came they have taken away that culture by forcing them to settle and adapt the European way of life.

Of course it is not surprising. The government giveth and the government taketh away. The problem for the Indians is they have been made dependent on the government and can be led around like cattle, getting noithing bu an occasional apology from un-relkated people looking for political brownie points to advance their own agewndas.

They have allowed themselves to be used, lked around, become depedent and then complain when they don;t get the life they want. No Inidian is required to live on a reservation, they can leave anytime they want and live anywhere they want. The best thing the government could do for Indians is sell ALL the reservatios and let the Indians learn to stand on their own like they did before. I have faith in their ability to live a good life without the "great white father" It is racist to believe otherwise.

Government words. Look at the words they are feeding us now. "We will provide healthcare for all Americans" Same #######, different victims, different subject....SAME #######.

You think the Indians were the only ones the government set out to screw?

But, like I said, nothing that can't be apologized for later, no worries.

And they will as long as Indians continue to accept the good graces of the US government. The sooner they ditch the government, hand back all the handouts, knock down the shacks, shake of the dust and walk out and make their own way, the sooner they will make a good life for themselves. Indians are clever, capable human beings jts like anyone else and will be better off living on their own accomplishments than being tucked away where the government wants them.

I have nothing to apologize for. My ancestors came over here 2 and 3 generations ago. Even if my ancestors did something, I wouldn't be apologizing, and my kids wouldn't be apologizing either. We had nothing to do with it.

I'm native and don't consider myself an immigrant of Europe or Asia. But hey Gary, I guess that means I might be part Ukrainian and since I can walk in 4 inch stilettos on cobble stones streets and look graceful doing it, that makes me marriageable by your standards.
