3.5 million in unpayed taxes, if auctioning off the land isnt the solution what do people suggest? There is no easy answer and not everybody is going to be happy but dam 3.5 million. I say that we dont charge them any taxes and let them have the land free of taxes but in the process quit subsidizing them, I think thats a reasonable solution but not very likely to happen.

i dont think they should have to pay any taxes........this land was theirs we took it we owe then a lot

We didnt take there land, this sad part of our history was way before there time.

Indian tribes are usually not subject to federal taxes, but there are exceptions for business entities associated with tribes, said David Getches, dean of the University of Colorado Law School.

Theres wasn't a lot of info in the article on how taxes work with reservations and other companies but I think its fair to say for the most part they are not taxed.

March them back up to the Bering Strait and charge 'em 10 bucks a head to go back across.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I am not going to make excuses for the USA but that was then and this is now, we have gone a long ways to right those wrongs. Theres got to come a point when you go enough is enough. I dont know how people justify a Indian being born today should receive special treatment than a white/black child just because of what our ancestors did a long time ago, time to move on if you ask me.

I dont agree with the statement you made about making them third class citizens because Indians have just as much rights and more opportunity as any other citizen, at a point you have to leave it to the individual to better themselves.

Just wrong. I can't believe that the judge would allow this since that Reservation Land is considered a sovereign nation...albeit limited. Somebody higher up needs to step up and prevent this travesty of justice.

i sure hope obama can do something about this once he takes office.

He'll blame GWB. Obama's hands are tied.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

No other Presidents really did anything to help reverse the land grab... why should Obama be that much different in this day and age?

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Sure we can do that too. What do you support in that topic, Charles? Circa 2009, not 19th century treaties that were never honored.

Why can't the IRS just take the 3 million from the 27Billion that is owed to the native Americans?

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,194539,00.html

OR...

Take it out of the 3Billion stimulus plan monies

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/01/28/s...s_n_161588.html

The Sioux tribe should just tell the IRS to get the money from the Department of Interior royalty payments and be done with it!
