I have a rant. There were supposed to be layoffs today. I even cleaned all the junk out of my cube and put everything I need to take with me in one place. I also cleaned up my laptop of all the junk I had downloaded over the years.

And now it's almost lunchtime and so far nothing. #######.

That doesn't sound fun. You really think you'll be layed off?

(do you want to be? just asking cuz ya never know! hehe)

I don't want to be but I also dislike surprises. I'd rather it happen when I expect it to and not when I don't. And yeah the rumor mill has 50% of the workforce in this building gone by the end of 06. The half that will get to stay will be management and business analysts and project managers.

Hmm yeah that sucks. I hope things turn out good for you!

Well that's good to hear. But I guess if they still want 50% gone out of your building by the end of the year, the waiting game of who is out will not be fun.

No. But part of me wants to stick around and watch. The other part of me (my wife, my better half) wants me to bail, the thought of having to pay COBRA premiums even for a few weeks freaks her out.

I agree with your wife because that's how I'd feel if Sujeet was in a similar situation.

But I guess since it's your job, you have to make the final decision.

Here's my rant for yesterday:

I had floor shift yesterday starting at 2:30. The person on before me is a really nice guy, very much a man of his word type guy. We're friendly, as we shoot the breeze all the time in the office....lots of ppl are annoyed with him cos he's a Born-Again Christian and very 'preachy preachy' at times, but it doesn't bother me.

ANYWAYS! At 2:29, I get all set up...my laptop's turned on, I'm logged into the MLS, I'm basically stood over him. I say 'you have officially one minute left' Well, he's packing up, and there are people buzzing about, agents walking by saying hi, blah blah blah. I'm still stood there waiting for him to get up when the phone rings. It's 2:32...officially my floor. So he's talking to this guy and I realize it's a lead he's talking to. He gets off the phone all sheepish & like 'uh oh' as if he didn't realize what time it was.

Ok, but at the end of the day, he's just schmoozed this guy & made an appt!!! The appt is at 4:30....I'd still be on floor. So this coworker says 'here, you can have the lead, I'm sorry, I didn't realize'...to which I say 'well you've just committed yourself to a time that I am unavailable' See, the fact that the customer was willing to meet with this guy...well you can't just call him up and be all 'first of all, I can't help you, and secondly Lisa can't come at 430' It's unprofessional & we'd both wind up losing. I tell my coworker...Mr X let's call him.....well, that was my lead, but now there's nowt to be done.

He keeps hovering around me bein all 'oh I feel so bad'...so I say 'what are you looking for here? I can't tell you it's ok cos it's not' He comes up to the desk like 3 times looking for me to be all 'don't worry'....he first says 'how bout I give you 25%'....and I'm all '25% of my own lead, how generous' so then he says 'how bout I give you my next floor lead?' to which I say 'look, figure out what you want to do and let me know'

He comes up again to me and says 'look, the house is like $600k' I'mlike 'well isn't that lucky for you?' so he offers me a 50/50 partnership. I'm like 'ok that sounds fair' even though it was my lead, we'd split the work equally, as well as the pay. I thought I was being quite generous.

He goes to meet the guy, comes back to the office, and goes in with our broker. HE SHUTS THE DOOR. I'm like 'hrmm this is interesting' He comes out, all smiles and says 'how's 25% sound to you hon?' to which I say very loudly 'sounds like I'm getting FUCT'

I say to him 'you pride yourself so much on being such a righteous person, yet you're trying to slit my throat over 25%??? Let alone the fact that *I* was the generous one to allow you to continue with this after you STOLE my lead in the first place'' He apol'd and now offered me the partnership.....ooooh thanks ever so much.

I also told him that Jesus was disappointed with him.

I don't know what my broker said to him...I'm really upset she didn't say 'Lisa's 10 feet away, let's include her in htis conversation'....no, bad enough she didn't do that, but she obviously replied to his question in such a way that he felt it was perfectly reasonable to go back on his word AFTER stealing my lead in the first place. I am soooo pizzed off.
