I'm getting ready to mail my documents to Mathew tomorrow or the next day, and have decided to use my mother as a co-sponsor. Problem is, she has just had surgery and has been off of work for the past month and I'm not sure when she'll be going back. I don't really have the time to wait for her to go back and get settled into her routine enough to get the employer letter. Now my question: She makes well over the poverty line for a household size of 3. Can I just send in her paystubs and tax returns instead? We keep everything so I can send in a ton of paystubs to them, that's no problem.

So what do you guys think???

Also, if I'm correct he'll have to get his birth certificate and his immunization record translated before the interview. Am I wrong?

I do not know the answer to the first question.

I can answer your second question, everything must be translated into English.

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."

The translations need to be done before the interview, as far as I know.

As for the employment letter... The instructions for the I-134 state specifically that you should acquire a letter from your company to verify employment. Perhaps someone else can provide better insight into whether or not the rest of the information will suffice.

I believe the tax returns and paystubs are supposed to help found the claims on the employment letter, but perhaps they would suffice as primary evidence. I know for the I-864, they are far more strict with their requirements, but as far as the consulate stage, you might get by without it.

Hopefully someone else can provide you with a better answer than that.

If it can't be done thats okay. I'm sure that with the way Montreal is backed up on it's interviews we'll have plenty of time for me to get this information together. I would just rather have it to him sooner rather than later, if you get what I'm saying.

Thanks for those who responded. Hopefully others will follow suit so I can stop torturing myself about this question.
