Hi all,

I'm traveling to London in 23 days. I am a UK citizen, married to a US citizen, living in Baltimore. I have a green card through a K1 visa, and we have been married for 18 months. We have a 4 month old daughter, she has a US passport. I am traveling to the UK with her at Christmas, her dad is staying here in the US. My UK passport still has my maiden name. I plan to book my tickets in my maiden name. Will there be a problem with me taking the baby out of the USA? Her passport doesn't have her parents' names in it.

Thanks

Lisa and Marty

Ok,

#1 you get a notarized hand-written or whatever letter from baby's dad saying he knows you are taking baby to England on such and such days, go to the bank, they usually have notary for free...easy...

#2 bring your marriage license.

#3-bring birth certificate if it has your names on it.

Get used to bringing all this stuff with you when you travel with baby.

I've been doing this for 16years every year with my daughter to Canada, the border folks REALLY APPRECIATE that you have a notarized letter from baby's daddy saying you have permission to take her out of the country. Trust me on that one.

I've traveled with my kids to the UK a few times since marrying my husband, so they have a different last name than me. I've never been asked to prove they're my kids, but just in case I do always travel with my divorce decree which shows I have sole custody of the kids and a copy of my marraige certificate that shows my name change.

The only time I've been hassled is when traveling into Canada (we live on the border and go a few times a year). They seem to be much more concerned about people traveling with children.
