Hey everyone! Well packet 3 just left for consulate, so here goes the next step....... Does anyone know the procedures on how to bring our pet cockatiel to the US from Australia? Damien has had him as a pet for 8 years and doesnt want to leave him behind. I've been trying to do some research but get alot of conflicting details. So was hoping that there might be one of you that has gone through this process.. Thanks for any info you can give! Have a good one!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Hi, I have a bit of experience with this, I did a regulatory rotation in veterinary school. I would recommend getting your health certs lined up with your local vet, and scheduling an appointment with the quarantine port ASAP. I'm not sure how many birds they can quarantine at one time, but it's often quite busy. Thankfully you're species is exempt under CITIES and you won't need a FWS permit for a regulated exotic species.
