we are kind of confused as to what papers we should send for the birth and marriage certificate. (we are putting together the I-130 for the IR1-CR-1)

on this website; http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciproc...ocity_3531.html

for the province of quebec, it says that the certificates accepted are COPIES OF ACT.

"Quebec: Applicants should obtain "certified copies of an act" from the Direction de l' Etat Civil in Montreal"

i have in hands our wedding certificate AND our copy of an act of marriage.

i also have my birth certificate AND my copy of an act of birth. both of those have my parents name on it. the problem is, the copy of an act has ALOT of blank spaces because if you were born before 1994, they dont have acces to most of those information. (parents adress, their date of birth, identification of the witness)

but on the US gouvernement website, it clearly says they need the birth certificate with my parents name on it. so they actually dont need the COPY OF AN ACT?

also, when sending the I-130 packet, do we have to include all our proof of relationship or keep that one minimal and bring everything to the interview later?

(like the phone bills, plane tickets, pictures, letters from friends about our relationship ect)

thanks alot!

and what about the proof of relation to send with the I-130?

only letters from friends talking about our relationship and a couple of pictures? or the whole package with phone bills and all that?

I'll ask my husband what he did to get his birth certificate since he lived in Montréal. His birth certificate was in French so it had to be translated to English. I can find the person/company that did the translation if you need it.

08/25/06 - 08/08/07 - K1 timeframe from mailing the petition to the NSC to K1 approval at the Montréal Consulate

08/31/07 - Réjean makes the big move to the USA

09/22/07 - MARRIED!

10/09/07 - Réjean gets his SSN

Adjustment of status:

10/26/07 - Mailed AOS/EAD/AP

11/23/07 - Biometrics appointment

12/14/07 - I-485 transferred to the California Service Center

12/28/07 - EAD approved!

01/07/08 - EAD received

02/08/08 - GREEN CARD APPROVED!!!!!!

02/16/08 - Green card received!

*headdesk*:

01/02/09 - Réjean loses his wallet containing his drivers license, Social Security card, and green card

02/04/09 - Our best friends bail us out by giving us the money to file for the replacement green card!

02/12/09 - E-filed I-90 for the replacement green card along with the $370 filing fee (including biometrics)

02/19/09 - NOA1

02/25/09 - Biometrics appointment

05/01/09 - Replacement green card received

Removal of conditions:

01/07/10: Mailed I-751 packet by overnight mail to the CSC

01/11/10: I-751 packet delivered and signed for

01/19/10: Received NOA1

01/28/10: Biometrics (did walk-in due to Réjean being out on the road on original date of 02/10/10)

02/03/10: APPROVED!!!

02/05/10: Received e-mail from USCIS saying the card production has been ordered

02/06/10: Received letter typed on plain paper from USCIS congratulating Réjean on his removal of conditions approval

02/11/10: Green card received

My birth certificate is from Quebec. It only has my parents names on it and my birth information. When I was born Quebec wasn't even issuing birth certificates so I had to use my Baptismal Record and state the Parish of my birth for them to track down the information. As long as you have the birth certificate that includes your parents' names you will be fine.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

thanks guys!

i think i'll just get my regular birth certificate translated with my parents name and not the reallly long form with all my parents info on it (which is all blank anyways)

and it seems like i dont have to send a copy with the I-130 anyways? so it will give me time to get it translated while were getting the I-130 approved!

I sent my file a few months ago and I sent them the Copy of an Act of Birth as it is what they were requesting http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciproc...ocity_3531.html -- however, I have to admit that, as yours, most of the fields in mine are empty. Same for the Marriage (I did order both the certificate and the copy of an act - I'll have them for future reference) but I sent the copy of an act...

Then, I got the Copy of an Act of Birth translated... the marriage stuff was done in English from the start.

I can't remember who it was, but I read about someone getting an RFE for the "Copy of an Act" a while back; which is not too bad if you have it already, but why not send it from the start and save the hassle...

thank you so much for the reply!

yeah our copy of an act for the wedding is in english and we'll use that one. i was just really confused with the birth certificate.

and the person who got a RFE for the copy of an act, what is because they sent the copy of an act and it was wrong or their sent the regular certificate and they had to send the copy of an act?

thanks!

(well get through this! haha)
