no idea why afghanistan is a national security issue to the US and not europe. europe is using us.... again!

bring troops home from everywhere: korean, japan, germany, spain, england, the works.... invest in a navy if we want to be everywhere. we put troops in most of these countries to spread democracy a long time ago... mission accomplished, bring the troops home.

Name calling is fun, we all do it from time to time and to attribute some precious intellectual high ground simply because one indulges in it from time to time is puerile. If that's all one has...different story obviously.

obama what a fcckturd.... ####### head. just having fun.

did she say "puerile?" OMG!!!!

Does this thread constitute baiting or trolling?

Its inception constitutes something else- not positive either.

How he would know this is likely funny too.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Oh wow, just wow, I knew something like this would come....

Is misinformation this bad in the US or...? Are you just very young or have memory loss issues?

You know that most of european countries chose to send troops to Afghanistan rather than to Iraq when Bush calls for it, right?

Most of the european countries (except the UK) screamed and screamed again that the real threat was coming for Afghanistan years ago.

France with NATO forces sent specialized units to help Afghanistan forming and training their own decent army to stop their civil war.

Europe army presence is there before you even knew what Afghanistan means...!

And if we, frenchies with Lafayette, didn't "spread democracy" in your country, you'd have a queen right now.

Grist to mills of Steve & Joe (OP): even Joseph Farah supports calling it quits and bringing troops home (due to 0bama lacking strategy other than bumping-up of numbers).
Can't just "call it quits" in either Afghanistan or Iraq; we need to leave both countries but only after a stable & secure environment has been established. Granted "stable & secure" are relative terms... I'm thinking something on par with Detroit
In a sense it would have been simple with Iraq--no invasion, they actually HAD a stable government pre-2003 (of course, "stable" along the same lines as Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Mussolini...). In the case of Afghanistan, a "stable" government could have been achieved by arming up all those with grievances against (then ousted) Taliban and letting them have a go at them (analysis stolen from India's withdrawal from Bangladesh by March 1972).

Yes Obama campaigned on "after we end the war in Iraq, we'll focus on the central front in the war on terror; Afghanistan."
