Hi everyone! I just wanted to know in which way I could present my assets at the consulate. In case my american fiancee's income/assets are not enough, I was thinking about presenting "something" at the embassy. Suppose I have an account with 20Ks in my bank account in Spain, how should I present this to the consulate? Should I fill an affidavit of support form for myself?

Thanks!!!

In order to present an affidavit of support, one needs to be a qualified sponsor. A qualified sponsor needs to be a US citizen or permanent resident. Some consulates (such as London) have allowed self sponsorship but it is a consulate specific decision... your specific answer need needs to come from the consulate you will be using

moving to consulate forum as this is a consulate issue

We received our NOA2 for a K1 visa almost a week ago, now we're collecting all the docs for my interview at the US consulate in Naples, Italy.

My fiancee doesn't earn enough to reach the poverty line (she's a student and has a part time job) but she's got money in a savings account that would be more than enough to comply with the 3x1 rule (or 5x1 required by our consulate in Italy).

Do you guys think it is alright to go just like this, or should we preferably get a co-sponsor within her family?

Also, what documents do we need to prove her income and amount in her savings account? Is the affidavit of support form enough or do I need to bring any further proof with me?

Steabba:

If your fiance is comfortably over the guidelines with her assets, you should be fine. For her income, you will need her tax filings; it is a good idea to bring a few pay stubs and if you like a letter from the employer confirming her continued employment and salary. For the assets, it depends on the asset. For a savings account, I'd bring a bank statement on the bank's letterhead saying how much is in the account now, and bank statements from the last year to show the movement of money (basically confirming the money is being saved steadily or has been in the account a while, as sometimes the CO may suspect you transfered the money into her account short term to pay her for a greencard marriage).

you probably get better/ more answers if you start your own topic.

Naples will require that you show a bank account in the US citizens name with the required assets. You need to bring bank statements. For Naples that should suffice.

Thank you for your reply! Does the signature of the USC on the affidavit need to be notarized? I read somewhere that it's not requested, but I'm not sure about it. Since my fiancee is coming here next week, in case she'd need to have it notarized there (much easier).

Neither the current I-134 or I-864 are notarized. They used to be but now, they are simply signed under penalty of perjury.
