Has anyone had to deal with getting police clearances that the USEM had to get for them? My fiancee had to get one from New Zealand, (which took me alot of phone calls to the embassy trying to find out how she could get it) the embassy finally mailed her a form to fill out for it with no further instructions on where to mail it to. I had to make more calls and send emails to find out where she needed to mail the form. They said for her to mail it back to the Embassy, with no further instruction on weather NZ would mail her the clearance or if it would be sent to the embassy. Does anyone know if the embassy will have it when she goes for her interview?

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get a "police clearance certificate"?

There is no such document in New Zealand. If you are convicted of a crime, a Criminal Record is created. This is the New Zealand equivalent of a ‘police clearance certificate’, ‘police record’, ‘police file’, ‘police check’, ‘personal record’ or ‘criminal check’. If you are asked for any of these, a copy of your Criminal Record from the Ministry of Justice should meet the requirements. If you have no convictions, you will receive a letter stating that is the case.

Good luck!

Thank You!!! and Thanks to everyone else!!!

I`ve seen the reciprocity schedule for NZ many times, I guess I just forgot the part that says it will be returned to the embassy. Hopefully there won`t be any problems with that when she goes for her interview. Whewwww our government is sooooo unhelpful in all of this. You wouldn`t believe, or maybe you would, how many questions I`ve asked that no one in the government that I`ve talked to knew the answer or could tell me anyone that did know. I think the stress has aged me 10 years while my Sweetie stays calm and cool and tells me not to worry and that everything will be OK. I`m just glad she doesn`t know our government as well as I do now. Good luck to all!!!
