wow it seems that I've been living in the VJ forms these past weeks. My family wants to plan a wedding for me next year in Canada and I think its a great idea but lately I've been thinking about how it may conflict with my AOS and other immigration paperwork.

The plan was to have the wedding next August which is just over a year from now - I am planning to file for AP stating those weeks next year so I could travel back to Canada (is that even necessary?). I've been looking at timelines and have a general idea of when the AOS is approved, but we all know that nothing is for sure when it comes to processing times. I'd really hate to go ahead and book everything only for it to get canceled because I can't attend.

Any opinions? Should I just go for it and hope for the best or not take my chances.

Hey!! If I were you I would just go ahead and plan it. I think that your AOS will definetely be approved by then! If it is not then a few months before if it doesnt look like you will receive your green card or haven't already apply for AP. I would do this around April or May if your wedding is in August. This is what I would do if I was in your position!! Everything will work out fine I am sure! Good Luck!

You shouldn't have too much of a problem...but check the timelines for others going through your district office.

I didn't do AP because AOS was going so fast through Seattle (6 months and that wait was through winter when I wouldn't be traveling anyway). In my case I was approved for AOS in April 2006 but due to a card error, just got my green card a week ago. With AP you should be fine.
