The OP isn't adjusting from a K-1 though but from another status (hence posting in this forum). The OP's spouse has to file concurrently with the I-485 the I-130 petition and the marriage certificate would be filed with the I-130 as proof of family connection.

Please help,

I have a question, My wife (was PR, now citizen) filed I-130 and got receipt.

Now I'm filing I-485 to adjust from H1B, how can I give reference of my I-130 receipt number in I-485?

Is there any specific way?

thank you...

Hello VJ,

so i was wondering how do you prove you had a legitimate marriage if you only had a civil wedding?

my husband and I did a civil wedding with just a friend of ours in attendance..

his parents and siblings had to work while my parents were out of the country....

we didnt have a reception afterward since we were broke and wouldn't be having the church wedding and reception December 2010....

we haven't done the invitations yet as we are still putting together the wedding list...

anyway, i have been reading on how everyone takes pictures of their wedding to the interview and their families being present..

is this going to be an issue, being that we only had one close friend present?

Hey Mofope,

I think this is pretty common from what i've read on here... given trying to get family from overseas takes a lot of planning, plus AOS costs and the economy... Me & my hubby are in the same situation. We couldn't afford the big wedding and we didn't want to have just his family as that could have offended my family if that makes sense. Plus didn't feel right to me to have a big wedding without my family and we want to plan another wedding later when we have more money saved.

We hope to plan a wedding once i'm working again, though def won't be before the interview.

We got married in Vegas, we picked the nicest chapel we could find and got a nice hotel, but it was just us and a random witness... We both think it's more about the marriage than the wedding. We wanted to be married more than we wanted a wedding.

We do have wedding pics of the 2 of us, plus cards and letters from family and friends, then joint bank account/financials, affidavits from family etc...

Plus we do see my hubby's family often - so have pics with his family. Though unfortunately none with my family, though they hope to visit next year.

I've read of lots of others in our situation so hopefully since we have legit marriages we'll all be fine... Fingers crossed for all of us...

Hi Marie09,

thanks for the input..

Its so funny since we also had our wedding in a chapel too....

i guess i'll have to get them to buy us cards and all, but my husband's family are not one to send cards.. lol! so i'm stuck with just a lot of phone calls..

not much pictures either since my husband ends up taking the pictures and sometimes we just simply forget to take any...

well like you said, we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed....

Thanks a whole lot for your input... Always appreciated

I sent on the 5th via USPS Priority to the Chicago lockbox, transit time from here was quoted as 2 days. I have standard delivery confirmation (no signature) and the online tracking tells me it went through a Chicago mail sorting facility early Monday morning (~1am). No update since then...

Best of luck to you... I'm sure you will be fine... USPS are terrible with updates, a few years back I sent tax returns using delivery confirmation. One never got signed for... No update beyond local sorting facility... But my check got cashed so they did get it. Despite the lack of USPS update.

Did you use checks for your AOS? If so i'm sure you'll know they have it soon. Mine took about a week before they got cashed. NOA's took just over 10 days or so (my signature timeline has more details)

Hey Longey,

Yeah USPS don't update fast enough..

but i'm sure it'll get there....

Marie09, i was just concerned... i sent in a whole check for 1365 not 2 separate ones.. does it affect me in anyway?

i have read almost everywhere that you need 2 separate checks.. but i was out of checks so i had to write the whole amount on the last check.. besides i called this organization that specialized in immigration forms and they told me a whole check will be fine..

anyway, what are your thoughts?

Hey Mofope, I wouldn't worry too much I was told on another forum (before i found the amazing VJ - but still informative nevertheless) that either way - 1 or 2 checks is acceptable as it's all going to the USCIS. Everyone on here tends to do 2 - but i'm sure it will be fine so long as the total is correct $1,365.

I'm sure they'll happily take your money - should be any day now
