Hey VJ,

Today is a joyful and happy day.

We had our interview at 8am this morning. we got there at about 7.40am, went through security and were seated by 7.45. it wasn't as long as i thought it would be, just emptied out our pockets and scanned us.

we waited till about 8.34 and my husband got called in while i waited in the lobby. He came out 10 mins later and i got called in.

The interviewer swore me in and began rolling the video tape to record the session. he asked for my name and the interview began.

He asked where my husband worked, where i lived and if i worked. He also asked if i worked on OPT or had a prior EAD card. I said no that i worked on CPT and had graduated. He asked to see my diploma after that.

He then asked if i knew my husband's family, and if he knew mine. I said i knew his and have met them but my husband haven't met my family but talks to them on a regular basis. I also told him we were planning our traditional wedding in December and he seemed happy with that.

He asked what we did on Sunday and i told him we had my niece's christening and that i brought pictures with me.

He asked me if i had auto or health insurance with my husband, i answered yes but since i just got my driver's license, i hadn't been added to the auto insurance yet.

He asked what bank we used and i told. My husband already gave him the documents so i didn't really have to show anything to him except my I-20 and Diploma.

He then said, well my I-20 is now expired, so he would go ahead and approve my case...

I was ecstatic. ....

He then asked for the pictures i brought with me. I had such a good time showing him the pictures. It was like a mini show and tell, it was fun.

Anyway, i just shook his hand and he showed me out.... He didn't stamp my passport or anything.

Since I was so happy, i didn't remember to ask him to print my Green card in my married name so as soon as i got out there i called the 1-800 number and they told me to schedule an infopass to talk to them before they print the Green Card cos it will cost money to change it if they send it out.

i went online to schedule an infopass for tomorrow to talk to them about printing it in my married name.

So overall, it was a good day and i'm happy we got approved for my Green Card...

Thanks a lot VJ for helping me through the process....

To those still waiting to hear any news or interview, i wish you best of luck..

Please make sure you read through the document i attached in an earlier post, that document helped a whole bunch....

Congrats mofope...after all the waiting u finally were successful.....

Yay! Congrats!!!! Really happy for you guys...

Congrats to Alex too on the EAD/AP...

Do you have 2 petitions like child & spouse? That's weird if not... Do they both say I-485? Yes the A number is your alien number/ future gc A#number , is the same one on both ILs?

That's strange maybe call & check otherwise...

got uscis letter,It says :"they make an error for the second interview letter".I have my IL already, but for my EAD no any update untill now, is it normal?

quick question for everyone but I didn't know where to post it: my social security number/card came today and it says on it about only valid for work with DHS authorisation. I am guessing this is because I applied for it with my EAD before I had my GC (although I had been approved the day before). When my GC comes, should I go back and ask them to change this/update this? I don't know.

From what i've read from other people, you do need to go back to get a "full" SSN. :)

Hey Alex,

You don't have to get the restriction removed but it's definitely recommended once you have your green card - at some point in the next 2 years...

I'm actually going to get mine done soon, maybe tomorrow... I've been putting it off as the SS office is 50 mins drive... These are my reasons for getting it changed:

1) In the fall I am going to grad school and started filling out financial aid forms... Was about to submit when I read the instructions. Apparently they verify your status/details with social security to check you are a citizen/perm resident. It said if you recently became a permanent resident, to make sure you've removed the restrictions on your social security card as otherwise you'll verify on the SS check as ineligible... Of course probably easy to appeal but I figured why delay things further...

2) Also on the I9 employment form you legally don't have to show your green card when you get hired if you have a driver license/state id/school id plus an unrestricted social security card... Which is great in the unlikely event you were to lose your green card and be job searching at the time... (the replacement takes 3 months!) An employer has to see your green card if your social security card was never changed...

Congrats again on your Green card! And good luck to everyone with upcoming interviews!
