Hi all,

I am all done with my paperwork and am about to mail out all my forms. Just came across this in the instructions of Form I-485. It says that police verification is necessary under some circumstances. Is it ok not to send it in ??? I am a F1 student living in the USA since 2007 and married a US citizen in July 2009. No where in thr forum did i come across this. Plz help me out.........

Also for some of the supporting docs is it okay to send a few extra documents even though they have not asked for it??????

Hey Student28,

I could be wrong and i'm sure you'll get more informative replies regarding this. But i believe you only need a police verification if you have a criminal history (excluding minor things like small traffic offenses etc...)

My husband and I filed our AOS 4 weeks ago I don't have a criminal history so we didn't include one - so far so good. :star:

As for supporting documents we included a few extra things that were relevant. For example I was on a work visa and the instructions said they only needed copies of visas issued in the past year... But I sent a copy anyway also sent copies of my I-94 and I-94 extensions and my completion contract from my most recent employer and pay stubs showing i'd maintained status. I wanted to give enough info to counter act any questions the IO may have had and avoid RFE's if possible.

Just keep additional supporting documents relevant plus if they really don't need something i'm sure they'd just discard it anyway.

Good Luck with filing!
