My I-130 was approved on November 19th, 2009 (after 7 months) and I was happy to know that the NVC journey is fast. However, there are some NVC cases here in VJ that can take 30 days and others that can take up to 5 months !!! Why is this? and what can be done to avoid this delays at the NVC?

Thank you

My case was at NVC for 4 months due to two RFE's (not because of my failure to include anything, just NVC requesting further information).

Montreal: BEAT!!! Approved!!!!!

The length of the NVC journey can vary because of various reasons. The number one reason for the longer processing time is because the paper work is not filled out prior to getting into the NVC, or the paper work is not filled out correctly. As the other post says a RFE can delay the processing time as well. But if you have the paper work filled out while you are waiting for the NOA2 and it is done with no errors and you don't get RFE, you can easily move through the NVC in 4-6 weeks.

I learned 3 reasons, from reading here at VJ :D

1. RFEs

2. Namechecks

3. lost paperwork

Don't forget, namecheck occurs at every stage of this journey. EVERY SINGLE ONE.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
