Civil Surgeons demanding a second medical exam...

After reading much about CS pressuring people into a not-needed second medical exam, i was wondering what we should do in that instance. Is there something we should print out to show them that by law the second exam isn't needed if it hasn't been over a year?

I really don't want to get into it with a CS about a second exam so if i could just hand them a print out of the rules and just get them to transcribe the vaccine record, it would be nice.

Any ideas? Thanks.

As stated before, if the exam is over a year old it falls outside the "only submit the vaccine supplement" guideline.

Here's the link to the form instructions: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-485instr.pdf to check out TracyTN's citation.

Since you are in Texas, then a call to Dr Arnold's office might be to your benefit

I just used Dr. Arnold about a week ago and got it back yesterday, but I was just reading another post from someone earlier today who contacted his office and was told he's retiring and not doing it anymore. I know there is some issues with his I-693's being done through the mail and not in person. I sent my AOS package in without the I-693 after trying unsuccessfully to get the vacc transcribed. I am continuing to contact other CS in Wisconsin to see if there is one that might actually do it.

state that according to the USCIS rule coming into K1, as long as AOS is filed within a year- no medical is needed other than completion of vaccination- do not allow them to do bloodwork (eg.hiv, sphyilis)because these has been done on initial medical. insist what is on the instructions...i myself has been talked into needing new medical (bloodwork) (even saying that since my visa (i-94) almost expired i shld re-do medical..yay  )but i demanded on what i know is right... i guess if u just follow their instructions, most will end up paying more than what is required. one has to be well informed to avoid these CS's unnecessary medical and/or payments.... anyway, so in the end- she probably sensed that i wasn't no dumb who just walked in there and do the shots...

paid: vericella, mmr vaccines and $15.00 for the signed form.

 ...best of luck to all

it's here. I also used dr.Arnold's services to transcribe vaccinations but now I regret-not because his service was bad-on the contrary it was fast and cheap, but because some IO finds it illegal now

I got an RFE for not sending in any I-693 at all (I thought the medical would follow him and didn't know the vaccinations had to be transcribed). Some have done this successfully, but I got an RFE. We then went to a CS who only transcribed the vaccines, and my husband had to get a second "booster" shot of tetanus - since he didn't have proof of getting this as a child, he had to show that he was getting a 3-shot series. He got the first one in Guatemala at his K-1 medical and the second here right before we went to the CS (it was cheaper at our local health dept). The CS transferred the vaccines with no issues, then I wrote a letter quoting the AOS instructions themselves (about not having to get one if a medical was received on K-1 within a yr) and sent it in with my RFE response. I was nervous that it wouldn't be approved, but it was...last Monday!

Be careful with Dr. Arnold, there are a couple posts here on VJ that certain local USCIS offices aren't accepting him as a CS anymore. If you go to him in person, that may be a different story. I recommend bringing the instructions with you to the Dr. office.
