I went to the USCIS website and was unable to complete it because of the last two questions about security in case you forget you password. It says whats on file.. Question is how do I get it on file. When I type in my choice and answer it reads invalid add on...How does this work.?

You have to have your case number from USCIS before you can get updates online. Have you received your NOA1 yet?

No they just recieved the petition yesterday at 2:30 PM.. Now I know why..Thanks. But don't they send you a text message first with the NOA1? Or an E-Mail ? I thought that is why on the last page where you sign they ask for your E-Mail address..

If you sent a check (as opposed to money order) with your application, when USCIS cashes your check, you can look at the online image of the back of the check to get your case number (it's the number that starts with EAC [you're a Vermont filer, right?]). Otherwise, you have to wait another week or two until you get your hard copy NOA1 in the mail, and look in the upper left for the case number, then rush to the computer and sign up for your email and/or text updates. Until you sign up for it after you have a case number, USCIS won't send you any emails. They're just that way...

Megger , Thank you so much ,you are so informative. So I just call my bank every day to see when my check was cashed and ask to see a scan of the rear of the check.. Cool.. This helps relieve the tension I now understand everyone feels. It's not till after you get on board with others that you finally realize this is not as easy as it sounds...

Again, Many Thanks..........................

It's not as easy as it should be, is it?! I'm pretty sure they expect you to be either psychic or a Jeapardy winner to be able to understand the intructions/process without the other VJ people. The only reason I know all this stuff is from spending about 3 hours of my 8.5 hour workday reading these forums... I'm lucky I still have a job!

We're all in this boat with you, PanamaJack, so don't despair! There will be rough days, for sure, but (as I keep trying to remind myself) spending my life with the guy I love is worth a few months of this... At least we live in the era of internet/phone/Skype, etc!
