ya, sorry - it's not about 'sexual contact' but successful coitus.

There are other forms of 'sexual contact' that don't require the culmination of the male orgasm inside the woman's v@gina - so I suggest to you that perhaps the nurse/doctor/clerk got it wrong - it's really - 'don't get pregnant' during that 30 days.

Other Sexual Contact, you betcha, is A-OK !!

But - what's the big deal, anyway ? there's a lot going on in that 30 day time span, from medical, to interview, to plane trip - you might already not 'have' sexual contact with your partner because he/she is NOT there to have it...

It's because of the risk of birth defects.

Funny how once you do get pregnant and then have a kid, the "avoiding sex" concept seems much more natural. :)
