Bidding adieu to Canada

On Friday I'll be purchasing my train ticket to Orlando from Seattle for Jan. 11. We decided that with the uncertainty with domicile recently that we would take the plunge ($300 plunge!).

Anyway, I want my husband to drive me down to the Amtrak station in Seattle. I will be driving (always do when we cross the border) and will tell them I am to board a train that afternoon or day after (may go down a day early to visit my aunt). I'll have two luggage and three 3x3x3ft boxes to take along with me. We'll have a letter from my husband's employer with due date to return, copy of our filing/correspondence with NVC, my single train ticket in my name, and bills/lease agreement. Let's hope we make it through okay.

Trains are cool - can shift more luggage ;)

Good Luck with the train !!!

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Oh, I see...I assume you still await the interview? This is a tough, but good call, seeing all the recent denials....I mean, you may need to be seperated for a while...but better now rather than all the issues later.

Good luck and I hope you set up shop easily :)

Yeah, we just began our wait last week for the interview. :) We definitely are playing the safe route here, but what you said is exactly true - the separation now is better than being forced into it and an unknown length of time with Montreal is truly frightening.

I wish you the best of luck for your journey and job search.

It's not easy to be apart, but I totally believe in the saying, short term pain for long term gain.

Short term pain for long term gain is one thing - when the reasons are just and right - that's not the case here.

You know i'm sorry to hear that you have to do this - but with Montreal so screwed up right now regarding domicile, I completely understand why you feel you have to - as you said, you don't want to enter the big black hole - in case they deny you and ask you for evidence - but won't tell you what evidence.

I hope you have no trouble finding a job!

Where in Florida are you moving to exactly, have you picked a spot? I know outside Orlando, but have you chosen an area?

We're between downtown Orlando and Pine Castle. We'll be staying with my Gramma for a good amount of time until we can get a place to ourselves - most likely in Oviedo, near UCF.

I know you and I have chatted back and forth about this domicile stuff, and I truly appreciate that. Hubby really is worried and to ease that for him (he really, really hates it here and can't wait to be in FL), I'm doing this. The things we do for our spouses.

I think it's a smart call. I mean, if you can get your stuff together..the anticipated timeline you face, is from now to the interview...which is a matter of a couple of months...versus being at the mercy of the Embassy after a denied interview...and not having much influence...we all know what it's like to be in limbo with no clear contact or person to deal with.

I'm sending good vibes your way, and hope that when you guys do get scheduled, i'm confident you'll walk out with a visa in hand :) stay positive right? :)

All the best!

Thanks Poprocks :) I am not at all worried about the interview, just this stupid domicile stuff. But you're right - it's only a couple of months at most (Mar or Apr is when we should get an interview, if not sooner). This way I get to see my cousin off to Marine bootcamp, I get to help my dad through this rough time in his life, and I get to be with my family.
