I'm just shocked that a single call from the POE can completely nullify half a year's worth of successful processing through other government organizations...not to mention all the money involved.

I was about to go in to a major rant here...but i'm not going to :hehe:

Thanks for all of your kind replies. We both appreciate it, and whatever happens, we will find a way to be together. Our love is stronger then anything and no one will take that from us. It's so hard each and every day, knowing that we should be together, but we aren't.

The person that interviewed us, checked into the laws to see if he could grant me the visa and after about 2 hrs he had us come back into the interview room and we were approved, as long I was good in the US.

I'm still waiting to hear back from the Embassy, will let you all know when I do hear something back.

I too wanted to add my sympathies. I hope you get this sorted out soon and don't have to wait the year. Is there any precedent for them simply reopening the case and letting you file a waver, maybe?

And now I'm really wondering why it is we have to wait for months and months for an embassy interview. If homeland security at the POE has the right to nullify what has already been approved, then why can't we just go to them in the first place and wait in a long line or on a cold hard bench to hear their verdict?

Hi Codybanks,

Sorry to hear about your situation with your POE....

What's even more shocking to me too, is that they would do such at the Peace Bridge, which compared to other border crossings, is not as strict and is quicker to get through (from my experiences anyways, from crossing the border many times). As well, your k1 visa was approved beforehand, so why should they go back on that decision, despite you telling them about that offence you had many years ago. And why should they give you an additional waiver for that too? If they had problems with that offence, why didn't they address that at your Montreal interview, instead of at the POE? Makes no sense....

If it makes you feel any better, I was interrogated (for 2 hours) at the border (Rainbow Bridge) too when I had my POE about 3 years ago...Not a good experience at all.....So yeah, I totally understand how you feel there....

Don't worry though, as some way or other, you'll make it to the USA to be with your loved one....:)

And yes, do keep us updated about your experiences.....Hope you can get it sorted out as soon as possible!

Good luck with the rest of your immigration journey. And good luck at your next POE. And if you attempt such again soon.....I recommend the Queenston/Lewiston Bridge, if you ever go by this way again....lol...Do not go on the Peace Bridge or Raindbow Bridge...lol....

Ant

P.S. If you need a recommendation of a good immigration lawyer here in the USA, feel free to PM me about that too....

I tried to enter the US on Nov 27th and got denied.

I was in Secondary for almost 4 hrs and was in confinement the last 2 of those 4 hrs. I was denied because of an offense I had back in 1982, which the person that interviewed me said that he would let it go and if some of you remember, we had to go sit down for a bit, well that was the reason why. Well anyways the CBP said that he contacted the Montreal Embassy and had it changed, so my K1 Visa has now been canceled and I was given an I-601. This really bites, cause now it's going be over a year if it gets approved and I can't enter the US til I get a waiver.

I just sent off an email to Montreal to try and get some things cleared up on this matter, hopefully they'll reply back.

I will give you updates as to how we are progressing.

I hope that everyone else doesn't have this problem at the POE.

Just letting everyone know, I did get a response back from Montreal, and all they said was:

Please advise if you have received your visa.

Thank you

OP6

This email is UNCLASSIFIED.

Really not sure why they would come back and ask me that, when I gave them all the details of what happened to me at the Peace Bridge.

Also my Fiance is waiting back to hear from her Senator, who is calling the Embassy for more info.

It really has been hard on both of us, and we are still waiting to hear something before we decide what's the best way to proceed after we hear back from the Senator.

Sorry that we haven't posted much lately, just trying to keep ourselves above ground.

I would resend the email - it kind of looks like they either didn't understand what you were saying or they were replying to someone elses email by mistake.

Not sure what you originally sent to them, but I would suggest that you keep your email very very short and to the point (like 2 or 3 lines maximum), they aren't going to read it properly otherwise (I suspect).

I'm sorry that we haven't been here for a while, but we've been trying to find out the best way to go about all of this. We have had talks with several lawyers, but nothing seems to go the way we want.

But this morning, I got a call from the Montreal Embassy and the Lady I talked to asked if I was going to the US, and I told her what happened at the border, and she said that was already discussed during our interview. She said that she would discuss this matter with her supervisor and get back to me.

Hopefully there is a resolution here! We'll all keep hoping and praying with you.

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."
