I read somewhere that once approved, there was a way to move the K1 Visa package from the USCIS CSC to the Chinese Consulate a little faster...

No way I can think of - you mean like a faster airplane or something? Because unless the petitioner has been granted some sort of expedition (military or other reason), there's not much anyone can do to move the approved petition through faster.

It doesn't usually stay at NVC that long anyway (usually). I wouldn't give it a whole lot of concern.

Things changed up a bit once the NVC Electronic Filing Pilot Program started being used at GUZ, since May 2009. This Pilot Program uses SAFEFILE to transmit the petition and casefile electronically, as well, from NVC to GUZ.

The Pilot Program is for I-130 petitions (CR-1, IR-1, IR-5 ) but...

about HALF of the K-1s are being sent via SAFEFILE, as well.

IS POSSIBLE to get some speed, for a K-1 - to kill the 'dead zone' time if it's SOLELY SHIPPED via DHL.

But it's hard to know.

It's not something you can request, either.

I can't even predict if YOUR casefile will be sent SOLELY via SafeFile.

But, it might happen ...

If it doesn't, expect a 2 to 4 month wait before P3 out date.

So - Keep calling NVC - ask when it left.

Then - CALL DOS, ask about case status, every coupla days - if there is 'P3 sent' status, and it was less than a week - they you have some speed .. Check my link above for getting MORE speed at P3 stage.

Good Luck !
