Hello I have a question that may be weird but I just had to ask it...

So all of you who have gone through this or will be going through this please answer, if you are doing the civil ceremony/courthouse wedding before your actual wedding down the road.... are you and your fiance(e) exchanging wedding rings/bands then or waiting for your bigger wedding???

We didn't exchange any rings at our Civil ceremony.

We plan to make that one of special aspects of our ceremonial wedding.. it gives us something to look forward to!

Just had our courthouse wedding last month. We will also be exchanging rings when we have a family wedding. You don't have to exchange rings at the court, but if want to you can too. Like someone mentioned, it gives you something to look forward to later. It is totally your personal preference. :D

Congrats and have fun. If I can give you my advice, don't sweat the courthouse one. Just have fun and enjoy it. Part of the process is in a place that seems like the DMV, and I don't know about where you live, but where we went in LA...the walls were sponge painted blue, and there were old multicolored "silk" flowers in a trellis. Not the kind of place you need to worry about all the silly details!! The beauty of the experience is that it is a lot less stressful than a traditional wedding.

Oh thank you... ya it looks as we will wait to exchange rings at our family wedding too. Just wanted to see what others were doing. I know I am glad the first wedding won't be to stressful. What did you guys wear and did anyone attend your courthouse wedding?

We wore business clothes (my husband left for work immediately afterwards.... very romantic... lol) and no one else attended. Not even witnesses. Just us and the person who performed the ceremony. It was actually quite nice. I thought it would be quite impersonal but it was really nice.

We just got married and we exchanged rings at our court house ceremony. I was actually surprised, we didnt think we would and planned to exchange rings on our own. We thought we'd just get in and sign papers, but it was a real ceremony, vows and all.

Congratulations to you and your future husband! Whatever you decide, remember to make it your own as it would be memories you will keep forever :)

Finally married... and still married... ;)

No prob...I would have stressed less myself if I had known. We had a week to get the process done. I ran around for 4 days like an idiot getting a license and trying to find a cute cocktail dress, as well as the hubbies ring. Well I found neither! Just a lot of frustration. He wore a pinstripe black blazer, shirt and jeans and I wore the only dress I already had, a black sundress! OOps. (Other people we saw getting married were wearing stained jean shorts and cutoff jean shorts, so we figured we dressed up somewhat adequately)We did not exchange rings but might have, only we never found one for him that we liked. We were alone (my parents in Toronto, and his in CT) We had two witnesses. Just another couple, friends of ours. It was a gorgeous day, and we had lunch on the patio at the Chateau Marmont after. It was sweet.

We didnt get to exchange rings because they were not ready on time, when the place told us they would be. On top of that my engagement ring was being fixed as one of the diamonds came loose!

So after couple days after we were married I picked up our rings and played a joke on my husband with the help of the store saying my ring came in but his didnt they got the wrong order for his. He called them and was freaking out and i couldnt keep a straight face anymore. The woman on the phone started laughing too and i put the ring on his finger and he put my ring on my finger. Couple days after that he came home and surprised me with my engagement ring, he picked it up without telling me it was ready an was just holding my hand while having lunch and put it on my finger. :star:

-figured i would add we had ring pops at the JP wedding. the judge got really pissed at my fiance for bringing them and trying to use them bcause he was really into the marriage stuff. but after he did the cerimony for us he let us take pictures putting the ring pops on each other and joind in the fun.
