JustJ - I'm so sorry for your denial. Was it denied due to the CIMT or the failure to disclose it on the customs forms when visiting?

They didn't give him a form or anything, and they said nothing about the visits under the VWP. They just said it's because of his crime. The guy actually seemed really sorry about it, and said he would "happily forget those crimes, as they occurred so long ago," but explained that he *had* to deny him and send us on to London. He said he would need a letter of remorse and a waiver form filled out. My husband whipped out our waiver packet and said the guy seemed impressed that we were ready. They kind of joked about it. The CO flipped through our stuff and said it was great, and just what was needed, etc.

The CO wanted to see a certified letter from the courthouse, and since my husband was there for 4.5 hours, the cashier had closed, so he wasn't able to pay with cash. The CO said that we should get our certified letter/bank draft in as quickly as possible, so that's what we did. Both should be at the embassy today. I'm not sure what the huge hurry is, as London takes forever to adjudicate these things, but my husband said the CO was very clear that we should really get the stuff to him a.s.a.p.

They also kept his passport, which is weird considering it's going to be another 6 months or so before we're approved/denied.

I think if it were up to that CO, we'd have a visa. But since it goes to London, and London is sometimes tough, I dunno.

Thanks, CW. They kept the envelope with all the stamps, too, so I'm really confused. Maybe they just wanted it to send out a Christmas present to a family member. They probably thought, oh hey, he won't be needing THIS for a while, I'll use it to send Aunt Susie those knitted socks!
