Hi there,

As some of the new kids around here, we wanted to introduce ourselves and tell a bit of our story as we begin the K1 process. We are at the very, very start, so we don’t have much real progress to report, but we’ve been reading and learning so much here and are excited to go through the journey with you all.

We are Kathryn and Richard. We met a little over a year ago in San Francisco when Richard was traveling through the States after teaching in Taiwan. We fell rather quickly for one another, and Richard stayed (overstayed his VWP time, in fact) while I finished my graduate work. We then went to Mexico for a few months and have now been apart for a few months more. Richard is back in the UK and I am setting things up in L.A. as our future home. We’re laughably poor, so right now we’re just scrambling to get the money for the initial 129F while I also secure an apartment. Obviously we want to get going on the process as soon as possible, and we hope to have the ball rolling by the end of December.

So that’s the basic story. We hope to stay connected to you all throughout the adventure, and we promise to keep our stupid question quotient to a bare minimum. Thanks in advance for this site and these forums and thanks already for all the information and clarity we’ve found here. Our process may not be the simplest in history, as we do have the overstay and financial considerations complicating things, but we are optimistic and dedicated to the idea that if we are patient and thorough and with the help of you all, we will make it. The stories of those of you who already have are a great comfort and inspiration to us.

That excitement will wear off soon, trust me.

I am new also, still working with the I-130 (the first form you send in for a spouse to relocate) And so far everyone has been very nice and patient with me  Stay strong, it wont be easy or quick but the outcome will be worth it (L)

I know my timeline sucks, but my husbands P.O.E was on January 7th, 2013!

Greencard in hand! After almost 4 years, WE DID IT!

Oh, yeah, by "excited" I meant "keeping our eyes focused on a small and distant ray of light, reminding ourselves to breathe, and taking turns retrieving each other's sanity as a long road, filled with obstacles, stretches out before us." No, it's just a relief to have other people to turn to while we go through this. It makes such a difference.

Thanks for welcoming us, and good luck!
