My Fiancee's interview is next Tuesday, December 8th. Of course we are very hopeful of being approved, so she wanted me to ask others about their experience of coming to the USA to live. She wants to know what the limit is on the amount of luggage she can carry here, as she is thinking of how many clothes should she bring?

What did some of you do? Is there a weight limit on the luggage she can carry?

Thanks for any ideas, suggestions.

Claudeth brought a lot of luggage and had to pay for being over-weight. You should check with the airline to see what the charge will be.

I sent Claudeth money to get the plane ticket, it was cheaper for her to buy it there than for me to try here. It saved us about $150.

Claudeth went through LAX and didn't have any problems at all. The customs officer that assisted her was very kind and considerate. I think it took her about 40 minutes to deboard, get through customs and exit. What a great feeling that was seeing her come out that door

Unless you want to pay extra for baggage she will be limited to 2 bags plus a carry on bag that must fit either under the seat or in the overhead baggage bins.

There is a weight limit but I think it varies from airline to airline...

You will need to call youe specific airline to get the numbers.

Good Luck!!

the official limit now is 23kgs x 2 and should be of equal weight plus carry-ons of not more than 7kg

(airlines are not as strict w/the carry-ons, you can carry as many asyou like, just don't look like they're too heavy for you)

luggage limitations is based on carrier and passenger class. If she has well over a 88 pounds of stuff to send here best take what is needed only in luggage and ship the rest to your home. The carriers will charge you up to hundreds to bring over the limit luggage with her.

there is an over the limit for both weight and size. if you exceed any of those the carrier will charge you massive penalties to bring it on board I had a over the limit package they wanted 150.00 fee to bring it on. I seen my friends get charged 250 to 350 in fees. The carriers do that to discourage you from packing up because the extra weight increases fuel consumption. I beleive on Korean economy allows you only2 bags weighing max of 44lbs each and first class 2 bags at 88lbs each. that is one example. Not much allowed but that's the way it goes. Well take care good luck

If she's flying via PAL, she's allowed to bring the following:

- 1 pc. hand carry [45 inches in dimension (L+W+H)] - 7 Kilos

- 2 pcs. check-in [62 inches in dimension (L+W+H)] - 23 Kilos per piece (for economy class)

Yeah it depends on the airlines. I am going to fly down pick up my wife when her visa is finally approved. that way she will get an extra bag to put stuff in and some in my bag. We might be able to get a little heavier since i am military. Even if I'm not alloted more weight for that...it will be cheaper to pay the extra fee for the heavy bag than try to ship it from the PI.

HI!!! additional question here>>> will be flying PAL/economy.. 23 kilos/pc?? What if I'll Just have a one luggage check in and will have an excess weight?? That would be still OK? Or strictly 23 kilos per piece???

My wife is flying back to PI this month.

She only takes a carry on back to PI.

Once she comes back to USA, She will load up on Clothes and new luggage from PI. Clothes are much cheaper in PI, and plus it's easier to find clothes that fit her in PI.

She will bring back some Coach / Louis Vutton Luggage from PI.

Bring back some SmartBros International Sims Cards

That way you can recieve all the free text from PI that you want
