I sometimes play on WWW.ISC.RO and this news came as a flash when I logged in just now.

This is not an exception but Thais have always been a dominant force in world scrabble competition in English.

There are many Thai top players on the site.

The interface may look a little funny (it originated in DOS many years ago) but it is FREE and is very powerful to use all the features when you know the command line.

Again, Congrats Pakorn!

Thanks for the good wishes. Visa check

It would be nice if the ministry of education could give her the final release as promised.

They are milking her good will a bit too much and the whole application for retirement

process seems to be taking longer than the K-1 petition to interview time. Should she

be flattered because there is the appearance that she is indispensable, or make a formal

complaint because they will be stiffing her for some of her last months' salary?

It's not for me to suggest the latter (as an American teacher might probably do),

but I hope it all works out in the end.

In the meantime, we play scrabble online and YES! she beat me soundly the last two games.

Some of her other opponents claim she doesn't play fair because she is an expert on blocking,

but blocking is a fair and open tactic available to both sides and doesn't depend as much on your

ability to come up with words. In a tight game where there are a few options she usually does

better than me, even though I usually win because I'm a native English speaker.

Pakorn's strong showing in the world championship has renewed our interest in scrabble.

Now that the visa is in the bag we can enjoy our online time together more and hope to

be together for real within a month (if that is possible).

Wireless Road is now behind us, next stop JFK!

Thanks again Mark.

If you'll look at my second post on this thread you may see that she may or may not be here for Christmas.

In the most optimistic scenario we're shooting for December 26, provided she can get the final release

from work. Technically she already has the green light but they are foot-dragging with the final sign-off.

All our blessings to you & yours as well. :innocent:

PS - I announced the visa on the "Wireless Road" thread - that's the address of the US Consulate.

It probably didn't register as much as the usual subject headings for visa announcements.

There's a link there to my consulate review as well.
