Hello friends,

we are still waiting for the email from NVC and had my DS3032 ready but husband just want me to be the agent instead him (USC). May I know what are the things that the AGENT do within the NVC process? Are they sending documents through a physical address or email? What are the pros and cons of me being the agent? He is not really good in paperworks so he prefers me to be the agent as I understand more of the whole process.

Thanks in advance.

The choice of agent form is so the NVC will send all future forms and inquiries with the person who is listed as the agent which could be the applicant, petitioner or lawyer. However I would suggest the USC be the agent because the NVC will send the forms to his address domestically, greatly reducing processing time. I have all of the forms filled out(did while waiting for i-130 approval), so i am hoping for a quick NVC processing. Another con of you being the agent is if you make a mistake on the form, they will contact you and you could easily add an extra 6-8 weeks in processing time. If the person has all of the paper work done correctly and they do the steps in order, it is not unusual to have case complete in NVC in about 4-6 weeks.

Hi metro420,

If you gave NVC your and your husband's email, they will send you both the email regarding the DS-3032. If not, it will come in mail. I think you have to fill out the form they send because it has your case number barcode on top of the form. But I don't know if you can prepare DS-3032 in advance. Call NVC about that. My wife waited till she recieved the form in email. Then she emailed NVC and she attached the filled out DS-3032 with the email.

Regarding assigning an agent, I would suggest you become an agent since you understand the process better.

I made my wife as an agent and it didn't delay our process. I just made sure we went over everything she filled out before sending to NVC. Like we went over every single line of DS-230 and the documents needed to be sent with the package. She also scanned and sent the copies to me just to be on the safe side. If you take all the precautions needed, there won't be any chance of a mistake.

This is just my opinion. Do whatever is best for you and him. Good luck :)

IMO, you should list the US Spouse as the agent of choice -

Now, specifically for YOUR case, YOU can submit all forms and paperwork, then have HIM check for status (payment portal, NVC AVR system, live human tele-operator ) . IMO, the USC spouse SHOULD be allowed to check for status, ask questions @ NVC - but without that 'Agent of Choice' Form - it is difficult ..
