Is it possible to get an extension for a rfe? i got a rfe asking for a paper and they gave me a date to have it back by or my case would be dropped im working on getting that paper but dont think it will be before the date they gave me. will they do an extension of the date? or am i pretty much done and have to start over?

Jan 10th 2009- met her online.

Feb 4th 2009- proposed informaly

april 23 2009-went to philippines

may 4th 2009-proposed formaly with ring

may 13th 2009-back to usa

june 6th 2009-sent I129....

june 29th 2009 got NOA1

aug 17th 2009 went to philippines

sept 8th 2009 back home

sept 17th touched

sept 18th touched

sept 18th rfe sent

sept 21st touched

sept 23rd rfe recieved

still waiting......................

You can try to get an extension, but I am not sure how easy that will be. If there is something else that you can submit in leiu of before the deadline that may be suffice I would do my best to submit within the RFE deadline. I was thinking the same about doing a extension, but did not want to take any risks and managed to provide what they wanted in a reasonable time. Best of luck!

My RFE had a 30 day deadline.

hi base on our own experienced we denied due to RFE... we sent it at the right tym but there still missing form (G325A) in a document that we sent, so we sent it late (the form) so.... the result ; they sent us a response for rfe.... a notice of denial...so we refile than to appeal

you better send ur rfe in time and make sure that complete to avoid the denial.

I've not heard of anyone getting an extension for an RFE (doesn't mean it doesn't happen though) - however, it would certainly be to your benefit (if you know you will not meet the deadline) to respond to the RFE with some sort of letter of explanation (include copy of RFE notice) and ask for more time. You definitely don't want to let the deadline pass without doing something - then you would be starting over.

What document/evidence are you having to wait for?
