Cowen Park now... :help:

have they seen this guy in any of these places or are the just checking locations of people he knows?

That's what I'm wondering. He must have someone that's helping him elude the police.

Saving a life is more important than ideological stances.

Absolutely WRONG!. You've argued several times over the last couple days that it's OK to disarm a certain demographic because they do a disproportionate amount of the gun homicides in this country. You've advocated a blatantly racist policy in hopes of curbing gun violence even without proof of success - sorry but AUS' figures prove nothing - and called for a system that would suspend the Rights of a select few in hopes of improving safety for all.

When you start down that path - like disarming a select few - you end up with other Rights being suspended as well. (Like, say, going from gun restrictions to strip-searches without probable cause.) Over time, the average Joe has ZERO protection of ANY of his Rights. I guess it's OK with you to be strip-searched at any time, anywhere by your police just because they felt like it? - Keep in mind that includes your own home... and your wife and kids too.

I simply stated that common sense suggests you learn from the leaders.

Hitler, Stalin, Mao..... all very good, common sense leaders for making their streets safe.

There are only a handful of issues I am passionate about: crime, illegal aliens and the cover up of crime disproportionately being carried out by minorities.

Yet you fail to see the correlation between all of the above. I'll give you a hint.... it's that big, benevolent brother you've been speaking of.....

Actually, where is Slim? Guns are supposed to prevent theft.

I had to break away from the intraweb and do some real life stuff for a little while. You know, football, beer, cleanin guns - the important stuff in life.

I hope my question to Slim is not perceived as baiting. I don't bait. That is a legitimate question.

Not at all baiting. We've been battling it out here the last couple days and I was absent when this good debate was going on. Inquiring my whereabouts = legitimate question.

Brother Rob; not even this case makes me a dearth penalty advocate.

So what could? From your post, I gather if we have people in our society that rape little kids and shoot police officers, they should be housed and fed, cared for, and you should pay for it all?

If you can't advocate the death penalty, what can you advocate? What do we do with people like this? Keep in mind, he was already working on his second chance.

That is no way to allow a judicial system to be run. Due process is not something that should be bent to suit those who are meant to be upholding the law, no matter how 'justified' it might seem to cops.

 Is this a first? Did we just agree on something?

Madame Cleo is spot-on! We have to ensure every single Right to everyone at all times. When you start "turning a blind eye" to things that are illegal, you open the door for things to be done to you, and everyone, that are also illegal. Kind of like when you let the government tap your phone and check your e-mail so they can catch the dirty terrorists... well, you're also letting them tap your phone and check your e-mail so they can see what church you go to or which books you read. Sounds pretty petty, right? Well, what if you like to be a certain religion and not many other people like your religion? What if you're reading a book that's not very popular with the current administration? Sounds far fetched (and God-willing, it is) but it all starts with one little violation.

From what I gathered on the news tonight it sounds like the guy has some sort of serious mental illness, like schizophrenia.

If that's true the issue here isn't on "certain demographics" or on why the guy was let out of jail; but rather why there is so little provision for institutional mental healthcare in this country.

Someone like that simply shouldn't be out on the streets.

I bet if we had more problems with mental health issues in the more affluent areas, you'd see a quick change toward the care of the mentally ill. Like poverty, joblessness, etc., it's been historically contained (or quarantined for lack of a better term) to certain areas. Out of sight, out of mind.

What folks are going to start realizing soon is you can only move away for so long. "Those people" (and I'm using that to include anyone who could be thought of negatively by those in affluent areas) reproduce at an extreme rate that's outpacing the suburbanization of most American cities. The outward retreat was fast enough in the last few decades but has now slowed to the point where it's going to be surpassed by the growth of the ghetto.

Get ready people, the zombies are comin!

I didn't think he would be taken alive.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I did? Where? I said all people need to start having the type of weapons available restricted. Where you are getting confused is in me quoting which demographic has a 7,400% greater homicide rate than those in second position. Also sourced from the FBI's website.

I simply stated that common sense suggests you learn from the leaders.

Hitler, Stalin, Mao..... all very good, common sense leaders for making their streets safe.

Leaders as in countries with a higher standard of living than the US. Not Maos and any other ridiculous extreme examples.

Wrong again. Ten minutes worth of research clearly illustrates that countries with the highest standards of living have an involved proactive government. You clearly fail to realize that while there have been cases of the government being the problem, there are a hell of a lot of cases in 2009 where the government is responsible for an excellent standard of living. Aka it's not the government that is the issue but the type of government system in use; furthermore, the people that are running the government. We tend to call this the first world.

What you are doing is the equivalent of using Enron to suggest all corporations are corrupt. No Enron was corrupt, there are plenty of responsible well paying ethical corporations out there. Yet you will ignore those and be fixated on Enron.

Actually, where is Slim? Guns are supposed to prevent theft.

I had to break away from the intraweb and do some real life stuff for a little while. You know, football, beer, cleanin guns - the important stuff in life.

Great! Nonetheless, I am waiting on your response since a well armed society is apparently supposed to result in lower crime. The FBI stats suggest otherwise.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I didn't think he would be taken alive.

Me either... killing a cop is a death sentence (let alone 4). I'm glad he was shot, as it saves taxpayer money (i.e. as opposed to a trial & prison sentence).

The killing of any government worker should automatically result in the death penalty. It sets an example and is easy to remember.

The only qualms I do have with police taking matters in their own hands is having a 'The Negotiator' style incidents.
