I have a question. My fiance and I was talking about what would be the requirements for a muslim women doing a visa with a american man. Can they even do a fiance visa. I know when it comes to a women that things are very different, cuase they have to marry a muslim man. So is it possible to them to do a fiance visa. Most states here do civil cermonies and not recongnize a mosque Nikkah, except in one state. So do they need to get married in Morocco or can they do a fiance visa. I already told my fiance the man will have to prove he is muslim too. And i have not seen this come up a lot. So any answers will be apperciated

Hi,

From my understanding, you can do a fiance visa. Yes, things may seem different, but because you will be getting married in the US and not in Morocco, I don't think the requirement applies. You don't have to do a ceremony unless you are talking about an engagement party? If you do get married in Morocco, then you would need the requirement. Many women have gotten fiance visas without the requirement.

Hope I have answered your question, but I am sure there are others that can either add or answer your question better.

There may be questions at the interview if the fiance is not also a muslim. I would be prepared to answer that. I don't think they would deny you, but it is outside the cultural norms, so just be aware that it would be a hurdle for you to get past.

Good luck!

I am an Egyptian Muslim beneficiary and my fiance is a USC Muslim revert of one year. We filed for our K1 last June and my visa interview is on Dec. 13th. It sure is an uncommon case but we do have a true relationship and are hoping for a non-biased interview. We are planning on having a civil marriage and a religious marriage in the 90-day period and planning a beach wedding on our next anniversary.

Cases like ours are uncommon but they do happen. I read a few times on VJ that if the male petitioner converted to Islam, the CO usually asks for any proof that he really converted and sometimes the embassy contacts his parents to make sure they know and approve of his conversion. The couple should be prepared for that. It would be nice if the fiancee has a close relationship with the fiance's family, since usually Muslim families will not give their approval of the engagement...

Good luck and if you have any questions, feel free to PM me!

Thanks for the info. My fiance's best friends, sister is trying this and they want to be prepared for everything. I have no idea if the man is muslim or not. But Morocco is a high fruad post so things will be hard.

I have a friend who went through CASA and her fiancee was American and in the army. Her name is Imane, but she doesn't get on her much. I'm sure she could be of some help.

Yes, you absolutely can do a K1... :star:

There may be some questions at the interview about your cultural and religious differences, but that is the same for anybody.

If you do get married in Morocco and do a K3, your fiance will have to convert to Islam beforehand for the Moroccan state to recognize the marriage (you probably already know this...)

But if you receive the K1 visa, you can come over here and marry your fiance without a religious ceremony or obligation.

The only problem that may arise is getting your US marriage recognized by the Kingdom of Morocco if your husband is not a Muslim. i wouldn't have any information on that, but perhaps someone here could be of help??

Good luck,

Conversion in Morocco to marry can take weeks, and, no, your marriage to a non-Muslim man will not be recognized by Morocco. Not yet.
