AOS transfered

Ok, we received a notice in the mail about my wife’s case being transferred to the CSC for faster processing. Obviously we live in NC and have already received a NOA stating USCIS received our paperwork on 30 May, now we have a date in the system of 14 July. I assume this date is when the CSC received the paperwork. 1 - is this normal procedure? 2 – Why wouldn’t the Charlotte office be processing this? 3 – Is our timeline now based on the July date?

This is normal when they plan to approve the adjustment without an interview.

I am no expert but yeah the only reason the local offices are there are for things that need to be in person (and the same with the service centers, they are there to process paperwork that doesn't need face to face).. so like john and marlene said if they aren't gonna interview they would send it to the service center

haha this is great, i just recieved the same notice and was about to post about it, asking what was going on.

i am glad to hear that this means i won't need an interview.

however, i am confused as to how i am to find out about processing times now. where can i find the processing times for that office? and which date will they process me on, the transfer date?

any info is appreciated.

yeha i was looking at that thread, but it didn't explainn much in terms of why cases are transfered and what that represents time wise.

I can totally relate to your frustration but I don't think anyone here at VJ knows the answer to that question We can only look at each other's timelines and make guesses.

I haven't seen any obvious pattern as to why some cases get selected for a transfer to CSC, although I'm sure USCIS has some kind of internal guidelines. I believe this is considered a pilot program so they don't have official processing times for the transferred family-based AOS applications.

On balance I think the transfer is a good thing for most since you don't have to go through an interview. The waiting was stressful for us but preparing for an interview would probably have been even more stressful!

Don't count yourself out of the woods yet. If they subsequently decide that an interview is required, they will resend it back to your local office. This has been done on occassion.
