2. What are they goin to check if everything already appoved from NVC and USCIS?

3. Do they apporve the visa before they interview?

Your timeline says you have US entry on a future date (the approved button is in bold) so I don't know why this question is being asked.

Without the visa there can be no US entry - after visa approval you can post your future travel date.

I doubt the speeding ticket will be a factor (others with actual experience may pitch in here),

because traditionally government agencies don't have any system of "instant notification"

that I am aware of, like between the DMV and the USCIS or DOS and a local police department.

The background checks (for criminal record, etc.) took place in previous stages and once

the report is on the CO's desk it's not a living, breathing, instantly updated thing but just

a piece of paper.

Because of the brevity of the interview, the CO will most likely go for anything that could

be construed a "red flag" in the past history of either party - previous marriages, other

failed attempts to get visas, overstaying another category of visa, insufficient or

contradicting information about the relationship. They may also go after anything

they might see as evidence of the relationship not being long enough.

Other intangibles are things like appearance, level of confidence and whether the

interviewee seeks or avoids eye contact. If you react in an offensive/reactive

way to a question you think is offensive, the CO may see that as a "soft spot."

Questions about your sex life (who you had sex with, not what happened when you did)

may also be asked frequently.

She was ready for a few "sticky" questions but they only asked one and she handled it well.

Thanks for the answer, I just planned and I want to get ready for everything in case that's all. I wish that I'm going to get a visa that's why. Anyways, thanks for making me clear about the DMV and USCIS or govt system there.

I ask these kinda of questions because I'm stressful and nervous about everything that might happen at the interview. who knows..on that day, the CO might be in a good mood or bad mood..just be prepared. Ohh! I think when people don't know the information well or don't have enough knowledge, the fear will take place. That is another reason why I brought those questions up!

Again, thank you.

They are very informal, they bang away on the key board recording your every answer, they very seldom look up at you.

DO NOT LET them intimidate you!! That is what they want, just breath, think your answers cafefully before answering, and short to the point answsers. Once you go up to the wondow for interview and answer the first question, you will be fine. You will see!!

Truly happy!!!

New life, new adventures, and a new attitude.

This will be a CR 1 interview not a K 1.

The information they need is in your file which they will have reviewed prior to the intervew. This is why you wait before being called to the window.

The speeding ticket isnt a factor.

The strength of your relationship isnt in question. You are married.

Your previouse relationships arent in question at this point either. Anything related to that was already submitted & if it was a concern you wouldnt be interviewed until it was cleared up.

They expect you to be nervous. Everyone they see is. Remember they are people trained to do this work. They see hundreds of cases before yours. The embassy in BKK sees over 700 per month.

They will never ask you about your sex life.

Everyone is stressed & nervous during this time. You will do fine & you will not be asked questions that you can not easily answer. Nothing to fear really. They are there to issue visas & if there were some serious problem that would prevent that you wouldnt be interviewing.

You will be approved & your passport returned to you within 3 days.

You will find that the interview is easy & takes only a few minutes. When its over you will look back on this with a smile.

This is a better answer than mine (we are K-1) and even if the "criminal charges"

were much more serious than speeding, they probably wouldn't know about it

if the incident happened after your paperwork arrived at the consulate.

Just relax

Your husband is the US Citizen? Even if they knew, a speeding ticket is just a misdemeanor-- and I'm not sure how much they care about the US Citizen's record at the interview stage anyway.

My fiance was only asked 2 questions at the embassy: Where did we meet and When are we going to get married. I don't know how different it would be for an IR-1 but probably substantially similar. CO flipped through our evidence for about 1 minute. It does seem like they do an approval/disapproval before the interview and are only looking for something that might change the decision rather than using the interview to make it. We agonized over it before it happened too though
