I guess the Atari 2600 is not an option.

Pong ROCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbs::thumbs:

LOL LOL

P.s.: Yes, it's true that there are fewer PS3 games than XBox...and the little detail that you cannot play PS & PS2 games on it, but I still prefer it all the way...

In the early 80's there were fewer CD's too...It was either tapes or vinyl ...Blue Ray is next big thing in my opinion. ;-)

Now that's what I'm talking about.

I hear good things about the PS3. I think it really depends on what games you want to play. GT5 on the PS3 with the Logitech G25 is supposed to be really good. Mind you, it's no Pole Position but still...

I had my 80's Deja Vu moment for the day....

Anyway, I played GT5 on it and it was only ok. Someone mentioned about playing online and yes, you can do that with PS3. I personally don't play it online (used to a lot with my old PS2).

I'm glad, for a second I thought that you were going to tell me that you were going to get a mullet. :bonk:

I don't play many video games these days but I have a few friends who do and they prefer most games on their PCs. Of the consoles, they prefer the PS3 to the XBox but it is very close. Wii is pretty interesting too since you are part of the action and it is more fun that way. I guess it depends on what you are planning to do.

I guess I should go to a store and see them in action up close maybe with a store person explaining it all. I am leaning towards PS3 but need to look at the games for both. Thanks all for your input and opinions

That's probably the best approach...All systems have pros and cons... Let us know how it turns out.. :-D

good luck.

360 all the way. The live content kicks azz and you are easily able to play against people from all over the world.

You also have the added bonus of netflix streaming.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

don't count PS2 out.. i know it isn't the latest thing but it has a tonne of games... plus you can get them for really cheap.. 100 bucks will get you the console and one controller.. but sometimes you can find deals where they offer you more stuff...

Marilyn please. My HTC PDA has more horsepower.

In terms of graphics and usability, the 360 wins and is well priced. Not to mention the following is coming out next year.

Yeah, agreed there's no much point going backwards in terms of technology. If you have a PS2 and got it when it was the most recent console, and don't feel like spending the same (or more) again just to update...but in terms of quality of graphics, games, interactivity it rather defeats the object to buy backwards.

What age group/s are you buying for? I would say the 360's wider range of games is important for that kind of flexibility. My 10 year old happily plays a lot of the arcade games and a couple of more kiddy orientated games (surf's up, shrek, forza (lol) ) and we get a kick out of the RPGs (role play games) like Fable 2, Oblivion, Assassin's Creed 2 and then more macho games (since I'm not squeamish) like Modern Warfare 2, Left For Dead 2, etc...

I'm about to bust a gut for Project Natal to come out and yup, you've also got netflixs for movies and the recently released Zune for music etc.

A couple of cross-console games announced at the latest games show that they're going exclusive to xbox but I'm going to stop there because I'm starting to show my inner geek. lol...

p.s. I was hired for a new job on Friday, nothing very exciting workwise, but I got it on the back of my listing 'gaming' in my hobbies and interests. One of the interviewers about died when he heard what I play...

we actually bought our PS2 a few months ago.. some of us can't afford to spend a couple hundred bucks on a game system ..

we also bought one for our nieces and nephews for Christmas.. a used one though...

I just suggested the PS2 because it is cheap and it has a tonne of games that you can get for really cheap too...

We have an Xbox 360 and a Nintendo Wii. The Wii is more for kids games, is not very powerful and you can only add a limited amount of memory via an SD card - it is loads of fun though, and I often play with my 9-year old daughter.

The Xbox is by far more fun to play with my husband. It will play DVD's, and you can subscribe to Netflix through it and watch movies on demand streamed through to your T.V.

One caution, however, for the Xbox, they are unreliable - google "Red Ring of Death" and you'll know what I'm talking about. Our first one failed after owning it for 100 days - our second one experienced the red ring of death, but after unplugging it and letting it sit for a day or so, we plugged it back in and have not had a problem since - but I'm not holding my breath, they're known for this problem...

When hubby gets back from the U.K., we'll get a PS3 - but - and these are hubby's words, not mine, so take it for what it's worth - there are not as a wide variety of games for PS3 - love the fact that it's also a blue-ray disc player though!

So, they each have their pros and cons - but I'll tell you - when you get that red ring of death on the Xbox 360 it can be one of the most irritating things in the world - I know of a couple of people who bought two - one to use, and one as a backup for when the first one fails...
