Hey Guys,

I am preparing for Sean to move here, and I spent most of today re-organizing "our" bedroom. It's a really large room (it used to be two rooms), and so I have a queen sized bed, two chests of drawers, a sofa, a bookcase, two yucky computer desks, and two night stands in the room.

I am looking at buying us "his and hers" computer desks OR an L-shaped computer desk that is big enough for two people.

Sean and I love to play computer games and we raid 4 nights a week together. We are both small people, so we don't need a lot of space.

I came across this L-shaped computer desk. It's technically for one person for an office, but it looks like two people could use it.

What do ya'll think?

I read all 17 reviews, but no one wrote about using it for two people . . .

Nice! Depends what kind of chairs you use? We use two of the leather kind of high back chairs, no way we would get our two chairs between those desks - let alone us lol

Looks like even though it is in an L shape that they can stand alone - so at least if you do buy it and it won't work as an L you could place them side by side?

The only thing I would be concerned about is backing up at the same time and smashing into each other... Which could actually be kinda funny  That and the one side doesn't have a keyboard slider, which may or may not be a problem for you. I never use mine anyways, I find it awkward. Style wise its very nice!

The lack of keyboard slider would be an issue for some - unless one of you uses a laptop.

I very much like the backing on either side, as it looks like the holes are big enough to allow twist ties through, so you could easily organize cables/wires on either side. But the chair issue might come into play. Even with Ben and I, we're both small people, but he has a tendency of slamming back his chair whenever he needs to get up. I usually get squished or moved in the process, haha.

Me personally, I'd buy his and hers desks and just put them together in a corner, so you can control exactly how much space you two need.

Well I read the reviews and they did say that it came with 100 screws and was all in pieces, so I do think I could choose to not fully attach them to each other and have them separately if needed.

I kind of like the idea of being close so we can smooch in between pulls.

As for chairs- right now I use a tiny hard wood chair. I am looking at buying a small computer chair. Sean has a high back leather computer chair. He may or may not bring it though depending on if he moves here by car or by plane. He literally has no furniture to bring besides his computer chair.

The lack of keyboard slider would be an issue for some - unless one of you uses a laptop.

Sean uses a keyboard slider and he also wants room for a mouse down there as well. It looks like the keyboard slider isn't big enough for a mouse . . . but I wonder if he could adjust?

I don't mind having the keyboard and mouse on the desktop- I am used to that from work.

My husband and I actually share a very small L shaped computer desk, and we love how "connected" we feel when we're both sitting at our computers. The desk is pretty small...he is about 2.5 feet from me right now, but we have just enough room for all our stuff (keyboards, mouses, speakers, drinks, etc,) and it's always nice to be able to look over every so often and exchange a smile :star:

Another thing is, by the looks of your desk, it should be easy for either of you to look over your shoulder at the other's computer whenever you feel like showing each other something. David is always like "hey check out this screenshot!"

As long as you think you'll have enough room (and not gargantuous chairs,) I think you two should be fine

So after reading all this I want an L shaped desk! I have a laptop, so it would be easy for us to make it work. Right now I don't have a desk to use... Bill's isn't big enough for two, so I sit on the bed or couch with the laptop on my lap, which gets kinda hot and uncomfortable after a while. But convincing him to give up his fancy glass top desk will be like pulling teeth...

Thanks Misty! I am thrilled that you have experience with this arrangement. So far we love being close and when we are at each other's house we share a desk or scoot close to be together. So for now I'd love to play this way . . . hehe

You should go for it!

The price is also great. I was looking at desks that were about $175 each, and this one is $237 for the one desk.

I may be a big suck here...but after sharing a small bedroom as our computer room for a year...we are now very thankful for more space since the move. We game pretty heavily too and somehow just need the space.

The hubster has 2 monitors (24 and 20 inches) and I have a single 22 in...along with assorted peripherals like an extra number pad for the left hand......so, if you have anything like that or plan on getting them....you won't have enough room.

The desk itself looks pretty nice though...would you have room for 2 smaller versions?

AAAUUUGGGHH!!! had an l-shaped desk and I had so many issues with backing up into my SO! I would get sooo frustrated... So we eventually went with 2 desks that faced each other and we put the monitors to the side so we could look at each other when we talked instead of getting a stiff neck talking over the shoulder and trying to coordinate turn arounds...
