I am sure you have countless examples of someone 'packing heat' saving the day.

Too bad countries with strict gun laws, like Japan, have 92% less homicides.

maybe there are, but you don't care to look for them....

Americans use a gun in self defense once every 13 seconds:

It's simple maths. If it's so effective, why does a country with much more restrictive laws, like Japan, have 92% less homicides? 10% lower is one thing but a whopping 91% is huge.

The system here has clearly failed many. It's one thing having a difference in opinion and another living in a fantasy lala world. The right to bear arms is clearly not in the context of self defense against a local intruder, against protection from a fellow citizen, it was about protecting yourself against a foreign intruder.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Ban knives, ban swords, ban antifreeze (ethylene glycol), ban fat, sugar, high fructose corn syrup, blunt objects, sharp objects, heavy objects, light objects that can be used to suffocate, plastic wrap, shrink wrap, rope, cars, tapeworms, etc etc...

All of these can be killers. They need to be stopped.

Some of those are banned abroad actually. Even though something like anti-freeze is self-explanatory, it does seem to evade you. Anti-freeze by nature is not a weapon. Whereas, a gun only has one purpose.

"Right to bear arms". Arms = weapons. The Constitution does not state what type specifically does it? Therefore, why should I not be able to store a ballistic missile or an armed tank or a RPG?

Guns can be used for other purposes as can ethylene glycol or a sword. What is the purpose of a sword? Doesn't matter, that is relative. Most people don't use their guns for killing, just as most people don't use their kitchen knives for killing either. All of the above can be attributed to deaths, so if the motive is saving lives, then why don't you ban all of these things as well? Doesn't Pepsi kill millions en masse when they sell high fructose corn syrup?

How about Australia, Germany etc? Australia has 80% less homicides. Germany has 85% less homicides.

Don't get me wrong, I totally understand that there are responsible gun owners. However, the country has a huge problem with homicides, therefore, appropriate action needs to be taken. I never said ban but there definitely needs to be a restriction. There is zero logic in allowing anyone excluding law enforcement to own guns.

How many of your statistics were law-abiding gun owners? How many got their guns legally?

Get off it.

What do you think this is MacGyver? A gun is a weapon, as is a sword. A kitchen knife's main purpose is to prepare food. Well HFCS should be banned as well but once again you have idiots in this country who say 'the government ain't tell me what to do'.

It's interesting that you guys avoid answering why I should not be able to buy or even build a ballistic missile to store in my house. Or even an RPG.

Get a blank piece of paint and draw a dot (a point) in the center. Now move your marker to the corner of the page, as that is where you are. Aka you missed it.

Gun restrictions in civilized first world countries are not about punishing law abiding citizens, they are about protecting them. Restrictions do work and the lower homicide rates reflect that.

Building on this, Aussies are probably ranked last for terrorism activity, however, we too have to go through security checks at airports. You will not see anyone complaining for common sense reasons. Ironically the only people who do complain about that when in queuing in such lines is Americans.

NOBODY GIVES A ** ABOUT THE LAWS, WEALTH, HEATHCARE, HOMICIDE RATE OR ANYTHING ELSE IN AUSTRAILIA!!

we don't live there & have no plans of moving there.

1-what new gun restictions would you like to see in place?

2-do you think the criminal element would obey any new gun laws?

3-do you think it would be more difficult to get a 'throw away' gun?

lemme help you. the answer to question 2 & 3 is.... hell no.

No it was a panel beater or some other dumazz azz job. Ironically, at least if you were in Aus earning $100k doing the same work you could talk. What do you take home here $50K? I pay more tax than that.

Go back to EP, which is more on your level.
