Can you just confirm that it is a K1 visa that you have been issued?

You don't have a timeline or profile information. If it isn't a K1 and only a visitor's visa, then answers to your questions are very different.

Timeline Summary:

K-1/K-2 NOA1 - POE: 9 February - 9 July 2010

Go with whatever is cheapest. POE doesn't care what sort of ticket you have.

Check btstore.com, I find the best rates there for international travel and the one-way tickets there ARE actually cheaper than the round trip.

Yes you can enter with a one-way ticket, even though this is technically a non-immigrant visa it's assumed you will marry and transition to immigrant status.

OK, I think we have established you can buy a one-way or a round trip. Most people use whatever is cheapest and usually, but not always, a round trip is cheaper. Make sure the flight originates in your country, Throw out the return ticket if you want.

The CBP does not care with that kind of ticket you arrive and NOT because of any assumptions about your visa. CBP makes NO assumptions. They do not care because they do not care HOW you LEAVE the country if you do not get married, It is perfectly fine with the US government if you SWIM back. You do not need to show you are prepared to leave when you arrive

You have your visa. Buy a ticket. Round trip, one way. Come with $200, come with $200,000, come with $2. Come to the USA. Stop worrying. They do not care about ANYthing except you have a visa and passport.

(if you come with more than $10,000 you have to "declare" it, but it is still not a problem)

Not sure exactly what you are asking with the tickets but I will tell you what happened to us last week and maybe it will help.

Everyone said buy round trip tickets for us both because it is cheaper that way. I bought round trip tickets from U.S. to Peru and back to the U.S. for both me and my fiancee. The day I boarded my Delta Airlines flight to go to Peru they informed me that my fiancees tickets would be canceled because she did not board in the U.S. They informed me that I would have to repurchase the tickets once I arrived in Peru that showed her flight beginning in Peru. This cost me another $600 after receiving credit for the first purchase. So your tickets must reflect where you originated and can not begin in U.S. if you are not their to get on the flight. This is U.S. Customs law is what I was told. Hope this helps.

The only thing that I can add to this is the following: if you do purchase a round-trip ticket because it is cheaper, be sure the first leg of the trip is in your country and NOT the US. A few unfortunate souls have done this in the past thinking...well, I am not sure what they were thinking...but keep this in mind. I imagine with the way the airline industry has been lately, a single leg ticket will be ultimately cheaper. Good Luck!!

I just did a comparison - sidestep.com has more and lower fares than bt-store.com in my opinion. Results may vary.
