Hi everyone,

My names Rhys and im from the UK. My Fiance and I submitted our K1 visa this year and it was received by the USCIS on August 17th 2009 and right now we are currenty on the "Initial Review" status. It been on this status for some time now and i was just wondering if anyone else who submited their visa around this time has heard anything recently? Im just very anxious to hear something now as we havent since our application was received.

So any help or comments would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Rhys

Couple of things. If you make a timeline (My Assistant>>Add/Edit My Timeline) the software in VJ will calculate a possible adjudication date-range based on your time and recent trends at USCIS. Also if you check out Immigration Timelines (near the top of the page) you can review statistics/trends.

Also you can check out the August filers thread in the "K-1 Fiancé(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports" forum.

I understand your anxiety. We filed back in May and our status stayed like that until September. The USCIS is getting petitions approved quicker than they were at that time but the only thing that I can say is just be as patient as you can be. Once you get the approval, there is still much more waiting and work to be done. Once our file was received by the London Embassy it was 61 days until we had an interview. I can honestly say...the waiting for the approval was much easier than waiting for an interview date. Right now, while you are waiting, I would start researching the next phase. There are some things that you guys can start working on now to get prepared. If you would like the information, please don't hesitate to let me know and I will be more than happy to help. Good luck! You don't have too much longer and believe me....there are a lot of us on here who know exactly how you feel...

I agree, it took us 3 months to get noa2, then NVC took 30 days AP, some people are less, then you go download package 3 from our links on this site, then you call dept of state to find out if its been sent to London, then track it, download forms, get your evidence ready...then you send packet 3 to London, wait for interview, which is fast...really...all in all, maybe 6-7 months...?

It is different for everybody from what I have seen on this site.

Some are extremely fortunate and the time flies, others have to wait and wait.

I wish I knew a trick to make the wait easier, but the fact is, all of my life, no matter what the goal, there was always an end-time as to when you could set your sights and focus on. From a military enlistment, to starting my own business - all I had to do was focus on the end-date, work hard, and eventually I would reach it.

This is the most difficult wait of my life because there is no exact end-time to focus on and the wait just seems much worse. It's a mental work-out of the highest order.

Hang in there - the light at the end of the tunnel eventually gets closer.

(I'm telling myself this everyday too)

05-21-2009 filed I-129F (check was not cashed for quite some time)

08-21-2009 contacted Senator's Office

09-01-2009 Petition received, NOA1 sent (finally)

10-09-2009 Petition approved, NOA2 sent

10-16-2009 NVC received

10-26-2009 NVC sent back to USCIS((( their reason: a USCIS office received this case from the State Department with a request that we review it. We will notify you when we complete our review, or if we need something from you

No RFE has been sent or received, no updates given, all trails end with recording or operator/officer who says must wait 180 days

1-26-2010 this will be the 90 day mark of the "review", I was told I can call back and issue a formal complaint if the case has not been touched by this date.

Still, we keep hope alive - I love her so much for staying strong.

Hi Rhys! My fiancee is from North Yorkshire (north of Manchester), and I filed my petition at the California Service Center like you!

We filed about 3 months before you (ours was received by USCIS on May 28th), and it took about 3 months from then to get our approval.

Check out my "signiture" under my post here, and you will see our journey so far.

My only advice to speed things along for you, is not to wait to receive your packet 3 from London like we did.

Ours never arrived, and we finally just downloaded the forms and sent them back to London when we realized the p3 wasn't coming. (We called DoS the first week of November and they said that the London embassy prepared the p3 to send on September 16th, and that we should have received it long ago!)

So take our advice, and the others who have posted here, and do not wait to get your packet 3 from London. Once you get your petition approval, just track it to London... and once they have it logged in at London, have everything ready to send them.

The p3 they send you is just basically a link to download the forms you need and the checklist online. So get your police clearance ready, the forms ready, and once you have your case# (begins with LND) and know that London has your case logged-in, book your medical.

At the same time, your fiance(e) here in USA can get together the proof of support and evidence from the petition, a copy of the petition, updated letter of intent to marry, copy of the approval, and proof of continued relationship since filing the petition to send you.

Just send London the forms and the checklist, and don't wait for them to send you your packet 3, because it may never come! Make sure you follow the guidelines for the forms here on VJ, because there are some you should not sign..they want you to sign in front of them at the interview i guess.

Good luck, and if you need any help, let us know!

  • 2 months later...

Lots of questions.. if anyone can i help i would be most greatful..

how do you know when the approved petition arrives at the embassy? Is there someway of tracking it?

Does the NVC keep you informed of the status of your case whist it is in their hands?

What is the general length of time between an approval and the consulate/embassy receiving the file?

I'm excited and panicking all at the same time, I'm trying to get everything together for the interview and consulate and i'm soo nervous about doing something wrong or missing something out.. I just wanna get back to be with my lady as fast and as painlessly as i can.

Bump this!

We are in the same situation. NOA2 approved and waiting from some sign from the embassy in London that it's been received by them.

Anyone any numbers or webpage addresses to get things moving on this side of the pond?
