What part of this do you not get? Between 1991 and 2001, the number of firearm related deaths in Australia declined 47%

Take out firearm related and then tell me how much it declined.

Thanks.

Gezz man. The whole point of it was to focus on guns and gun related crimes. Guns have one purpose and one purpose alone, to kill.

It's like saying the battle against malaria has failed in because aids still exists. Yes, both are diseases by not related to one another.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Actually, that may've been your purpose, but it certainly wasn't mine.

Guns may've been made to kill, but they're also pretty helpful when overthrowing tyrannical governments by force!

No, what you're saying is akin to saying, "if we reduce the amount of people who die by malaria, it doesn't matter how many people die from aids because that's not malaria."

Also, if/when we eradicate malaria, people won't start getting more aids just because malaria is gone.

So you don't believe in a democracy then.

Just the other day I showed you that 669 times more people are killed in the US than the UK by a gun. The US only has 5 times the UK's population. Yet you still focus on the 'what if someone used a garden hose to kill someone' scenario.

Every single gun ban around the world has yielded lower homicide rates. That is a fact. Before you bring up Australia again, Australia did not ban guns but restricted them.

Prove to me then that Australia's homicide rates have fallen. You still haven't done that.

When was the last mass shooting in Australia? When was the last mass shooting here? How many Australian leaders have been shot or killed?

Aus homicide rate in 2000: 1.57

Aus homicide rate in 2008: 1.20

Australia is living proof that restricting/banning firearms has little effect on the homicide rate. Fact.

So not having a single mass shooting since the 1996, when the last ban went into place is not good enough?

What about the UK where a total of 14 people were killed by means of firearms? Has that not worked either?

Actually, the entire state of Mass has a higher murder rate than Australia, Melbourne or Sydney.

First of all, what's a "mass shooting?" Is it worse because more than one person died? Also, I'd like to point out that almost 99.9% of "mass shootings" (sorry, no wiki page on this but I'm sure it's out there somewhere) are ended by someone with a firearm.

Secondly, what do "mass shootings" have to do with the overall homicide rate? Are you "safer" in AUS because you might not be a victim of a "mass shooting" or are you "safer" in AUS because they have a lower homicide rate?

How many Australian leaders have been shot or killed?

I have NO idea and I'm too lazy to look it up. There have been, what, a handful of American leaders shot and/or killed? Your point?

Aus homicide rate in 2000: 1.57

Aus homicide rate in 2008: 1.20

Take the average... it's .2/100,000. Wow.

Australia is living proof that restricting/banning firearms has little effect on the homicide rate. Fact.

 Holy #######, someone gets it!

Definitely a reputable site.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics [6], from 1985-2000, 78% of firearm deaths in Australia were suicides,

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.
