yet you, a lpr, owns one.

You can drink at 14 in some countries but that does not mean it's a smart idea.

yet we're not talking about that, are we?

why is it you are so loud about the "evils of guns" yet own one?

I'll tech you something that seems to elude many. I let the facts guide my opinion, not the other way around. I don't stick to party ideology. I also don’t put a stake in a ground and then try to find facts to suite my beliefs. Since stating one’s opinion is quite common here, people automatically assume this guy must be doing the same. It’s why I have so many arguments with people here. I don’t come from a country or culture where we speak for the sake of speaking or hearing our own voice. If someone doesn’t know what you are talking about, they stay quiet.

So to answer your question, yes when I first moved here I purchased a gun or two. Why? Because I could... Because these same hand guns are banned in Aus. Now, until you have actually lived in a country it's hard to know anything about it. As time went on, as I watched news story after news story, I realised guns are a huge problem in the US. People are simply not responsible with them, furthermore, the wrong type of people have access to various guns that are banned abroad; banned for good reason too. Both you and I might be responsible with even a F22, however, the problem is what about others. All it takes is one person who is crazy to get a hold of it and some serious damage (aka death) will occur. Hence, the restriction of those.

It’s the same deal with everything in this place. Take demographics and crime. People refuse to accept the reality that black males commit 7.4 times more homicides than other demographics. Why? Because in their mind well there are good black male, which there are, never denied it. However, that does not change reality that Houston there is a problem here. Hence, we need to target an entire segment in order to fix the problem. It's pointless targeting Japanese Americans. This does not mean blaming, it means identifying the problem and dealing with it.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

in short, blah blah blah - you want everyone to do what you say, not what you do. i'd have a bit more respect for your position if you weren't such a hypocrite.

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.

A hypocrite and a racist. Great combo. No wonder he doesn't have any friends.

I didn't pick dates by choice. I picked the latest year versus the year prior to the legislative change. Picking three years later is ridiculous by any stretch, especially when changes like these take years to take effect.

If it's so ridiculous, then go ahead and post them. You still have not posted the numbers for 1995 and 1999. Please post them.

After all, Aus is not China. It's not as if they went door to door searching for these weapons.

It's not like anyone in AUS could stop them either!

They have to remove them as they find them on people.

You mean, like, when the police declare an area a "hot zone" and then strip-search anyone they feel like searching - even without probable cause?

The American drive-through attitude towards everything doesn't work in real life.

Actually, it seems to be working quite well as we're number 1 in just about everything!

Why would I post the average? The average is ust that the average. It does not illustrate an increase or reduction.

Wait a minute..... if the average does not illustrate an increase or reduction...... then why have we been arguing over the last couple days? GAME OVER! If there has been no significant change to homicide rates in AUS since the gun restrictions (and turn-in/confiscation of 640,000+ arms) then why have you been touting it as such a good thing? Do you like being strip-searched without PC by the cops? Or are you one of those that feels more comfortable knowing they can enter your house and take whatever they want at any time?

- You said it Booyah! Read your statement again if you don't believe me. Also, unless you like denying facts, I do believe you're now obligated to hit the rest of these OT threads and start proclaiming "Gun laws did nothing to reduce homicides in Austrailia." - I'll be standing by.

The best way to determine what is happening to the homicide rate is to plot it on a graph and determine the trend, which without doing so in excel is clearly decreasing.

 Come on now, Booyah! :bonk: You just said above the AVERAGE didn't show an increase or decrease. Is it somehow different when viewed on a graph? Or is it only different on a graph in Excel?

Was it not an American's right to own slaves at once? Use child Labor, pay cents to the hour for 12 hour shifts etc..

It sure was! But then the country decided those weren't good ideas and amended the Constitution to change them and/or passed laws at state-levels to regulate. Don't forget about women's suffrage too! (That means people without penises being allowed to vote. Sorry, no Excel graphs available.) There have been numerous laws passed to regulate arms, but no matter what, there's never been a change to that simple phrase - the 2nd Amendment.

The only time citizens with guns were useful was during the revolutionary war. 234 years have passed since then.

Ask Yamamoto why he didn't invade the left coast back in '42.

I'll tech you something that seems to elude many.....

This is like the guys who play paintball and/or a lot of HALO and think they're bad-@$$ warriors. "Yeah, I know you've done this a million times. But how are you going to carry that photon-blaster, the nuclear warhead, your M-240B, all the claymores, your M-4, your M-9, your KABAR, your health-restoring-level-up tabs, plus that body armor and all the ammo...... and still look cool?"

Booyah! You've been PWND! If you stick to the facts and make good debate, I'd love to continue. But when you start hitting us with all your street-cred, it just starts getting embarrassing. It's kind of like beating a 6-year-old at basketball.
