Australia's homicide rate by means of firearms was already at 0.29 per 100,000. Therefore, not exactly much room to move anyway. So yes, coming from 0.29, a drop by 0.2 is bloody huge.

Where is this data from? It almost sounds like you're mixing up your figures.

"such a disparity" was is not you who was just bashing welfare in another thread? Who is forcing who where exactly? Paid to do nothing hey. Paid what? Slim come on, this is the one country that people beat on about freedom (choice) 24/7. Now you claim people are being quarantined and basically manipulated. Much in the same way the criminal in this thread choose to kill another in cold blood, it's all about personal choice here.

So you're saying the folks in DC who kill each other have the same lifestyle, by and large, as the folks in rural VA who buy guns from private-sellers at gun shows but somehow don't manage to kill each other?

Actually the list at post 200 does factor in population. Hence it being per capita.

You have not once, anywhere in any of these threads, provided data to support your position of the overall rate of homicides being reduced by the same amount (or more) of the reduction in firearms-related homicides. Nowhere. Please do. I'd love to see it.

A diagram of first world countries has been posted in another thread for you to review.

The U.S. has a lot more guns than many countries on your lists with higher homicide rates. Why is that?

Is this based on your years in NZ? Or some sort of spook equivalent gunowners.org site.

No, this is based on your Wiki link. NZ's homicide rate is only a little higher than that of AUS. They have more guns there, right?

Are the quarantined? Is there somebody twisting their hand behind their back?

Better yet, holding them at gun point. Just saying

No I just listed the overall homicide rates of all countries and noticed that those with strict guns laws are all located towards the bottom of the list.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

That does absolutely nothing to show that reducing arms has reduced homicides. Nothing!

Do they have the resources to move out?

Many with strict laws are right up there at the top too!

You are right on one hand. No other first world country has been as stupid to allow people to freely acquire any and every type of gun. Hence, have not had such a problem. However, countries like Australia and the UK that have enacted more restrictive guns laws, have had a clear reduction in homicides by means of firearms.

How do illegal aliens do it? Or are they receiving welfare? How about millions of other immigrants that migrated here without a pot to piss in?

Cool, since I missed them, which first world countries are they?

Once again, why haven't these countries also had a reduction in homicide proportionate to the reduction in firearms-related homicides? Put more simply, if firearms-related homicides used to make up 1/100,000 (in a total of 2/100,000) and have now been eradicated, why isn't the total down to 1/100,000? Why is it still just like it was before?

Illegal aliens and millions of others that migrated here don't kill each other at the same rates those "quarantined" do.

I didn't know you were still playing the first world versus the rest of the world game because in your earlier post you said "countries" and didn't mention anything about "They have to be first world countries or else they don't count. Who cares if there are a lot less or more guns, it only matters if they have more wealth per-capita."

How many times do we need to go through this for you to get it?

The homicide rate post buyback - 2008 is: 1.2

The homicide rates pre buyback in 1995 was : 1.8

1.8 - 1.2 = 0.6 reduction. aka 33% reduction in homicides.

There is a reason why these laws have not been amended. Because nobody wants these guns on the streets. As with anything, slowly slowly they are getting them off the streets.

A silly question perhaps, but...

Booyah ~ I was thinking... how come every thread you post in turns into a "Australia is so much better than the US because..." thread. I'm just curious.

We're going to have to go back through this a few more times because I still don't get it because I like to look at AVERAGES, not individual years. The AVERAGE rate has not been 33%.

Do it your way, but do me a favor. Use 1999 instead of 2008. Thanks.

Fail. You don't pick dates that suit your agenda.

You pick the rate prior to the gun restrictions and you then look at the latest, which I have done.

There is no hidden agenda. I am knowledgeable with Australia, so I discuss it. If I new more about Germany, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Sweden etc, I would refer to them too.

In terms of better, well they do outrank the United States in pretty every international study; with a number of these studies based out of the United States. One would assume people tend to learn from those doing things well, obviously americans don't, since we are still stuck on arguing if anyone else is actually doing better. Goes against the indoctrinated attitude of the US is the best at everything period. To suggest otherwise is almost treason here. Australians didn't get where they are thinking they are the best. The US on the other hand suffers what my ancestors suffered Hubris, and we saw where that got them.

I wouldn't bother if you guys just acknowledged it. Admit Australia is beating you, yes beating you, and I will stop. Admit minorities are responsible for a larger portion of crimes per capita and I will stop with that too. Lie or say nothing and no I will not stop.

Same deal with you insulting. You throw an insult, even a "you're stupid" and I go for the knees. You be civil, I remain civil. While I disagree with Slim, at least this guy knows how to have a discussion without resorting to insults. Strange that this is usually the case with any conservatives here. Whereas, if he was a lib, by the forth post he would have cried like a baby, thrown an insult, and then reported me for going for the knees.

I don't want you to stop. I enjoy seeing you prove your superior intelligence and education in every post. You are so convincing that people here support you in droves. They all realize that you are the all wise and all knowing. We are lucky to have you here at VJ and in America. You definitely make it a better place.
