in the instructions it says

"A passport-style color photo of yourself and a passport-style color photo of your husband or wife, taken within30 days of the date of this petition. The photos musthave a white background and be glossy, unretouchedand not mounted. The dimensions of the full frontalfacial image should be about 1 inch from the chin to topof the hair. "

Now it only says "passport-style" photographs; doesnt say whether the size of the picture should be 1x2 or 2x2 inches. the Photographs of me and my husband I've got are 1x2 size. Someone told me it should be 2x2.

What do you say it should be 1x2 or 2x2? or shall I send either size as long as it meets the specifications?

This is true however I do know of someone who was unable to easily get a 2" x 2" and sent a standard UK sized passport photo instead. She did however check this would be okay first. I'd call the embassy where you're applying if getting a 2x2 is a problem for you.

Are you filing in London? These are the photo instructions from their website:

http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new/visa/iv/photo.html

I would check with them and see if they will accept the ones you have, you may have to have them redone.

Or if you don't want to do that, just get them redone in the correct size.

Birdy,

Keep looking around for a photographer who can do passport style photos to the specifications listed above.

My husband and I paid just a bit more than we had to for the passport style photos because we had a photographer take them. All in all, it cost about €16 for six passport style photos. I also got six photos, one of which needed to be attached to the visa petition.

My husband ended up using all six photos and they were gladly accepted by the Consulate and the panel physician. I wanted to make sure that we wouldn't have any problems with such minor things like passport style photos.

I would've gone to the photobooth except that I was scared that it wouldn't fit the specifications listed on the Frankfurt Consulate website. And we needed so many! Also, at €16 for six photos, we didn't have to pay too much more for them than what the photobooth machine charges.

That is gona cost me a fortune... After rining half a dozen photographers one says he does photographs to these specifications but gona cost £25 each. i hate it...

I had to get the same photos done last year when I applied for my visa then got denied.

I went to a shop called snappy snaps I think it was about £10 for both. They also are veyr good in there just tell them they are for a US Visa they will know what to do
