Phone Card - Canada to US

Hi everyone,

Can anybody recommend a phone card that provides call records?

My SO and I don't have much proof of communication -- which is really frustrating since we spend hours talking to each other each day, whether on the phone or webcam. We can't get any records of it. We hardly email, and when we do, our emails are useless (mainly links).

I've been waiting for my phonecard supplier to send me my call records, but now I give up... Don't think it will happen. So I want to switch phonecards (my old one was gave me a great rate, but at this point, it doesnt really matter, I just want proof).

Otherwise, would anybody would have suggestions as to how to obtain the records from what we've been using so far?

Matt has been calling me though MagicJack. They won't supply call records although he can see the call log online. Could he take a picture of the screen or print screen?

When he calls me, it just says "incoming call" on my bill, with no details...

Thanks!

I really don't know of any phone card company that would supply you with call records, unless you requested them. In my experiences the bill normally just says something like "incoming call" or "call from xxx city" But, if you're worried about phone records for relationship prof, I wouldn't. Montreal usually doesn't request any additional relationship evidence at the interview, and if they do normally a couple pictures or cards have proven sufficient. Do you have any pictures or other communications you think may help? In my opinion this really isn't something to worry about. Plus, since you're still waiting on your NOA2, you have lots of time to create some evidence. Maybe start e-mailing each other or write letters and send cards, that would be good evidence to present at the interview.

If you're worried about the call records specifically then you could print screen the phone records your fiance has, I think that would be sufficient. You could also bring your phone records and highlight everything that says "incoming call" and explain that when he calls that's what comes up and those calls are all from him. I don't think they would bother investigating or question you about it to much.

I have used VOX below:

https://vox.ca

Vox America card. When you creat an account you can see a log of of all calls you make.

We always use Vox cards -- I haven't created an account but I really do like their rates! I have a card right now ... I just looked at the back of it and unfortunately doesn't say the specific rate to the US (the part that says that is at home) but it DOES say "rates as low as 0.2 cents a minute".

Depends on which VOX card you have. VOX America is 4 cents per minute with no maintenance fees.

I use pennytalk.com to call my fiance in Florida from Vancouver. It costs about 1 cent a minute (plus a connection fee) but you can renew it online and it lasts forever. It has saved me a TON of money. It gives a record of every call made to him and the duration that you can print out.

Thanks for your replies everyone!

I realise Im probably being paranoid about them asking for tons of proof, but I would be so upset if they did and I couldnt show anything with regards to our communications.

I need to get a new card or to recharge my current phonecard anyway, so I think I'll try Vox.ca or Pennytalk, especially since I feel my current supplier has been stringing me along promising me my records for weeks.

Im curious about Google Voice. Been reading about it in differents posts. I looked it up and it seems to only work for US phones though (?) and requires an invite. I asked for one anyway as it would be useful for Matt to call me and for me later on...

Skype unfortunately slowed down drastically both our computers... uninstalled it. We use some other webcam thing right now (Logitech Vid).

I'll do what you suggested Hugglebuggles, and get him to do print screen of some call logs online and cross-reference it with my incoming calls on my bills (just a one or two... wont go overboard -- just to have something to show). They'll realise Im neurotic, but hopefully wont deny me my visa because of it. ;)

We will have more proof anyway, since he is coming to spend the holidays here. Cannot wait!

And he has a few cards from me and we have written some emails I guess... But thanks for your answers, it reassures me!

I'm not real sure about the phone card thing, but I do know that if you have AT&T for your home phone provider with unlimited long distance you can get unlimited Canada calling for $5.99 a month. I got that and Mathew has unlimited U.S calling through Bell so we pretty much talk until we're blue in the face.

On Mathews phone bills it actually shows him how much he saves by having that certain plan. One month that I looked at he had saved over $4,000.

Good thing for calling cards and phone companies with sweet calling plans. :)

$4000!? It's outrageous they could charge that much!!

But that sure is a lot of talking ;)

Im with Fido and their North-American long-distance plan is an extra $30/month, which is about what I spent in June on my phonecard, and I still have $3 on it. Often I'll call him and he'll just call right back using MagickJack. So the cost of phonecalls has really been minimal for the both of us. My issue is that we have no records of all our phonecalls. But with the suggestions I got, we'll have something to show if ever they ask for evidence at the interview. They might not ask for any of it, but it will just give me peace of mind in the mean time.

What can I say? It's like I'm 13 again. :)

But seriously, we do talk for hours and hours on the phone. And we love to sleep on the phone during the night. His snoring gives me peaceful dreams. ;) Besides, his sleepy voice makes me swoon in ways that should NOT be possible.

I wouldn't worry about providing phone records. In fact, I don't know any Canadian who did. lol

*waits for all the Canadians who provided phone records to appear*

*pokes his head out of the dirt*

I may have provided a printed list of every phone call longer than 1 minute to from our cells (via phone card) and home numbers. Chronologically sorted...

Also... It's scary up here!

*hides again*

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."
