I'm not sure how long it will take for them to return the passport as that is an consulate specific quesiton (I hope it's sooner rather than later).

They will return the passport to you in your home country as you will need the passport with the visa in it to enter the US

Good luck.

Salaam and Eid Mubarak to you too.

As far as I know, asking for a passport is a good thing and usually results in getting your visa stamped. I am surprised to hear it may take 4 weeks. I do not think they would have to send it back anywhere- the US Embassy in your country should do that. I will be interested in hearing what others have experienced with this-

I don't want to make you nervous, but I hope that this suggestion gives you some peace of mind.

Call DOS on Monday and ask the for the status. They will let you know if you are having some sort of AR, or if your visa has been issued. I hope they give you good news and some peace.

Good luck and I hope you get your visa soon!

Waiting.....Waiting....waiting....waiting....and more waiting..........
