My husband might get a job in Panama City, Florida. I don't know anything about this city.... I did google this place, but there wasn't much info out there.... at least nothing relevant for someone who is possible moving there! Is there anybody here on VJ that have anything to say about Panama City? Good or bad! I really would like to know where to live and where not to....(rent an apartment or a house.)

Any information will be much appreciated!

I've been there long time back in college, It's a quiet town but comes spring break the town is alive maybe too alive for senior citizen, you have a lot of college beach party.

I stayed mosty in Fort Walton, This is the 1st time I've seen white Sandy beaches, it looks at if it snow in the summer except that it's hot sand, i thought it was gorgeous.

Didn't interact much on the grown up stage, another friend was station at EGLIN AIR FORCE Base, so overall not like miami or orlando, but it had its own charm.

Gone but not Forgotten!

I live down the road from PCB. Back in the day it was a rather typical fishing town with the AF (Tyndall AFB) thrown in. Translation, nice town with everything tourists look for and strip clubs for the AF guys. In the 80's it underwent a transformation and was "discovered" by Girls Gone Wild and a gazillion college kids. It is now one of the largest spring break destinations in the county and features one of (I have heard it advertised as "the largest") night clubs in the world, Club le Vela (Vila?). It is typical most of the year as a Florida coast resort town but during spring break and the summer months it turns into a rental town where people throw their litter out the windows and pee in public etc. I think you get the point. A couple of miles away is Panama City (no beach). Much more laid back and reserved with a fraction of the problems. Short story is the beach makes the difference. If you want to live on it be prepared to deal with tourists, drunk children and hurricane storm surge. Live a few short miles off the beach and generally all is good. JMHO...

Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented immigrant" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensedregistered pharmacist". (because somebody gives a damn)

Thank you! That's what I thought too...(college kids going out of control etc etc.....) Actually my husband and I spoke about this last night. And we made the decision not to move there! He will pass on the job offer. The beach looked nice but that was all. Ha, ha..... Panama City is NOT NYC!(where my husband's from.)

Thanks again! :P
