hi Ayesha..

how are you doing these days? I know its very hard dealing with this.

I feel your pain and certainly share it. we been on AR/AP going on 11 months. I cant think of anyone going though a waiver from pakistan.

you could post in our ISL threads. good luck and god speed.

btw, whom have you been contacting for status? DOS? Embassy? CIS?

if you are not getting any place - you could try the ombudsman.

Dear babybunny,

Thank you for your concern, we also waited 1 year for our AR it was terrible, honestly they are not allowing Muslims into the US especially from Pakistan, they are lying to us, and making alot of false promises. I have been calling the DHS dept. Department of Homeland Security, they were the ones who sent the information to Rome and they told us another 3 to 6 months which will be in September, we have been waiting for all kinds of reviews and security checks, it's all a bunch of bullshit, honestly they dont care about our cases, this is what we get for being Americans, I am really getting upset, and I dont care who I have to go to, to get this matter solved. This is our lives they are playing with. We have a friend here in Pakistan that is going thru the same exact problem we are, their case is 2 months earlier than ours and still they have not heard anything, Rome is telling us not to call or our case will be delayed.

If you have infromation on the obudsman or how i can reach them please let me know.

Good Luck to you also, let me know if there is anything I can help you wth. Asalam Oliekum!!!

my concern is the embassy is not approving any men. thats pretty bad there is nothing no one can do. I wish someone would intervine because, this delay is not right. the only people getting visas are ladies ONLY. if your husband or fiancee is a DR. husbands and fiances are not getting nothing. the only 3 men that have recived visas on VJ was Mo, Ishteq and max. no one else has. we all wait in Limbo.

Have you contacted your congressman about this? what are they saying?

Sorry to hear that your case is still not processed since I knew you and one other were awaiting waivers out of Islamabad. Keep your chin up and I am praying for all the men and their families that have to be separated for such a long time.

IF ANYONE IS WAITING TO GET AN ANSWER ON THEIR WAIVERS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW, WE HAVE BEEN WAITING ALMOST 1 YEAR AND WERE TOLD BY THE EMBASSY IN ISLAMABAD IT WOULD TAKE 6 MONTHS TO 8 MONTHS, NOW THEY ARE SAYING THE FILES WERE SENT TO ROME, WE ARE TIRED OF WAITING AND TIRED OF BEING LIED TO, I HAVE BEEN IN PAKISTAN FOR 6 MONTHS WITH MY HUSBAND WAITING FOR AN ANSWER, MY FAMILY WANTS ME TO COME BACK, THIS IS A TREMENDOUS HARDSHIP FOR US BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO KNOW IF ANYONE ELSE IS GOING THRU THIS. THANKS!!!

For whatever reason that your hubby had to file a 601 and a 212....these are adjudicated by the DHS. They were sent to Athens because there is a DHS field office there and they apparently adjudicate waivers for that part of the world.

This info is readily available off the web, so I dont understand why you think you were lied to. Its more that you didnt understand the process.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

Any timelines at any point in the process are at best indicative. I think every part of the process I went through exceeded the indicated timeline except the issuing af the actual GC.

First of all the reason for my husband's waivers are because he overstayed and was deported. I know they are adjudicated by the DHS, and they were sent to Rome not to Athens, because we were told by Islamabad.

And I do understand the process, i had to live it and I am living it, the waivers were submitted to Islamabad last August, we were told at the time that they would take 6 to 8 months to process, after 8 months we called the DHS and they told us that they have not processed the waivers because they did not have sufficient people to process them so they were sent to Rome at the end of March and now we were told it takes 3 to 6 months to get an answer, it is now 4 months and still no answer, not only us but everyone else that submitted waivers is waiting, what do we do? wait for September which will be 6 months and then they will tell us to wait another 6 months? Since you understand the process so well, maybe you can look it up for us on the web and tell me when we will get an answer? You can read anything you want on the web, it does'nt mean it is right. You are making it sound as if I am stupid or dont understand the process, but believe me, I know what we have been thru, and I have a good reason for what i wrote in the past , thank you!!!

Whetehr

Sorry to hear that your case is still not processed since I knew you and one other were awaiting waivers out of Islamabad. Keep your chin up and I am praying for all the men and their families that have to be separated for such a long time.

Dear Mary,

I wrote to you previously, thanking you so much for your concern and prayers but for some reason it did not show up on ther thread. I am so happy that you and your husband are together, may God bless you always, good luck. Ayesha

We're waiting FIFTEEN MONTHS going on MONTH 16 now for our waivers with no end in sight. Yes the waivers went to ROME NOT ATHENS,,,athens does not ajudicate waivers for Islamabad, Rome does in this case because Islamabad did not have a DHS officer until the fall of 2005 and when she did arrive our waivers sat there 10 months before they were shipped off to Rome, just to start all over again from the beginning. Anyone going through Islamabad KNOWS the process alright. They lie to you from the day you file. 6-8 months, what a joke. Its now TWICE that long. Not just a little longer people, TWICE the amount of time. So when you say yours took a little longer, well this is not a LITTLE longer, its 2 time periods. Our congressman and senator sent inquiries, I have been in contact with DHS in Islamabad and Rome both as has my husband.

They don't care who you are, what hardships you have, you are totally ignored. I think they want a human corpse sent to them for proof of extreme hardship. We were told months ago all waivers will be done in 60 days or less, that was almost 6 months ago, then any day, that was 2 months ago, on and on they lie one lie after another. As far as an ombudsman goes I have heard from others they were useless. I think its hopeless at this point. No one I know that filed waivers in Islamabad before or at the same time as us has heard anything either. Ayesha I would not listen to Islamabad or Rome, they all lie, Ive heard all their lies one after another since the beginning. Don't beleive what they tell you as you can see we're still waiting now going on month 16. If I were you I'd leave and go back to your family. Im not expecting anything this year thats for sure. For anyone filing waivers in Pakistan you have to be certifilably insane and if you aren't now you will be before its over.

You might want to have a look on www.immigrate2us.net. There are certainly people there going through Athens/Rome.

I have never heard of anyone being guaranteed a processing time, and I know of nowhere that turns them around in 60 days, even CDJ is longer than that, and thats supposed to be the fastest/easiest Consulate for waivers.

I guess I am surprised that you received such a time commitment, I did not have to go through the waiver process, but everything else certainly did not.

male, from lahore

i am in a very bad situation, i had my interview on 20th april 2006, my i -130 interview, my wife is a USC.

at the end of the interview i was told i ll have to wait for some clearnace, just 2 fingerprints were taken off me , of both index fingers.

they asked me to wait for 45 days but its been more than 100 days now , i have not heard anything from embassy, each time i call them they say its under process. i called up DOS in washington on the 50 th day and inquired they said the clearnace was done but they ve found some info on my case and it again went for a re review.

the next day my wife called them to inquire and they told her tht the case is not with them call up islamabad. the following day i called up DOS again and inquired i was told the case is under review, i dont know why DOS have two different stories for wife and husband?

now just a week back my wife called up USCIS to inquire and was told the case is in not with them and he cannot tell anything on the phone and she will recieve a letter from USCIS in 30-40 days , but then my wife called up DOS and inquired they had the same story tht case is not with them.

could any one please tell me wat to do and whom shall i contact ? plz..

I have seen that people in this forum are mostly inquiring about path forward etc. Why does the folk in this thread (Desis from Pak. Myself included) start fingerpointing. Someone pointed out in this thread that the only ones getting visa are Dr`s. That is true. The consular lady at my wifes K3 pointed out that she was the third Dr girl out of the four K3`s. Yes the waits are very very long and no answers from everyone. But please stop using words like lie or so. The fact remains that overstays, deportations etc are strongly discouraged. Most people avoid doing that. It is very important to remain instatus. Several people including student visa holdersleft the country for fear of overstay. Those who remained took the risk. Do you really think that those who did not follow the procedures should be treated the same way as those who did follow the procedures and uproated their lives for fear of coming under overstay. Rather than point fingers, we should strongly advise people to follow the procedures so they dont get into issues later on. I do have cousins whose husbands are in Pak. I cannot quite understand why the girls would prefer to stay here away from their husbands. Its best to leave for Pak and start the family life there. When your visa process finishes come to US.
