I wasn't sure which forum to post this, but here goes....

My fiance is arriving soon to through San Francisco under a K-1 visa. I would like to meet her there to decrease her stress in a busy airport. When I looked at several sources at the airport, it gave me the impression that there are actually two exits out of customs. Is this true? I was hoping there would be just one.

Also, I was looking for and didn't get any clear answers on documentation needed. I know she'll need her visa, passport, and other documents that she will get on the plane, but my sources didn't list anything else. Are there any other documents, such as copies of anything or support documents that she needs for customs?

Basically when you enter the international terminal there are two levels - the top is departure and the bottom arrival. On the arrival level there is one long/wide hall way with seating. If you wait here you will meet her as she leaves customs. (You can even see her walking down a hallway before getting to the exit door via multiple monitors.)

Wait in this blue area that i've highlited basically.

My fiance came through SFO as port of entry with no problems. It is correct that there are two exits not too far from each other, but above each exit is a list of the flights that will be exiting through those doors. I believe the monitor which lists flights and arrival status will also show which exit. Once you have verified that, you can watch on the TV monitors to see when she is about to exit the doors. You will see her exiting shortly after she appears on the monitor. My fiance had no problem at all with the immigration officials there. They were very friendly and helpful even calling me on my cell phone so that I could provide translation. He needed only his passport, brown envelope, and I-94 which was completed on the plane. Everything went very smoothly. They looked at some of the info. in the brown envelope including pictures that the embassy had sent. He was able to retrieve his baggage after speaking with the immigration official and was out of customs a few minutes later. Good luck to you! I believe everything will be fine. I have heard a lot of good experiences with SFO as a POE. Congratulations!

I can not help you with the paperwork questions but I can answer your question about SFO international gates. There are two gates but they are fairly close together and if you have her flight information the information boards just outside the gates will tell you what gate she will exit from. It is much simpler than it may seem. I think it is great that you are going to meet her at SFO as it could be very overwhelming for her on her own. All the best wishes to you both and may your new life together be a great success.
