Depoprovera (the shot) did the opposite of infertility with me. I stopped using it because of terrible headaches and moodiness. Two weeks after my next scheduled shot (which I skipped) I got pregnant!

I was on Mercette up until this past January. Since I live in the states and my husband lives in Egypt well....I don't really need birthcontrol I'm staying off of it because my husband and I plan on trying to get pregnant as soon as he gets here, inshallah.

Some personal stories to attest to:

(1) My sister was on depo (the shot). It screwed around SO badly with her hormones she had to get off after one shot. Two of my coworkers who were on it a few years ago were diagnosed with liver issues (luckily they turned out to be minor) that were traced directly to it. I would be very cautious about it.

(2) I have been on Nuvaring for a year. It is so simple and easy. Insert it and remove three weeks later. You can even download a program for your computer that will remind you to insert the next ring or remove the one that is in. The only issue...it makes your slightly more prone to yeast infections. The advantage...because it is in the target area, it is of a lower dose than a lot of other birth control options.

As for the SO going with you, that is a decision for the two of you. Do what YOU feel is best. That is what counts in the long run!
